Curious to know everyones' thoughts on this.
since there is no other topic in relation between the G5/7 and the Razer Copperhead.

so let the discussion begin on pro's/con's of both of them and which one will be best for gaming.

on a offnote yet related issue:
I'd still wish my friend idea of a mouse came true, named:
Thunder-Cougar-FalconBird, i wont even bother explaining the specs.. its godly and funny

I think it will be more personal. Both mice have unbelievable(unmeasurable?) accuracy, and come with nice features (the copperhead has that onmouse memory for settings... nice, and I like the MX ability to switch DPI's on the fly).

For myself, I like the looks of the Copperhead (imagine it alongside my Saitek Ecliipse) and I much prefer the size and weight of my diamondback over my mx mouse.

I liked the old razer better then mx series except the side buttons really sucked. However, the copperhead should fix that problem.

I would go copperhead. Now the real question is when will it be available.

I prefer razer shape, G5 reuses old MX5XX shape which I really dislike. I'm a bit hesitant about the new button placement on CH though as I grab my DB by concave part at the bottom so with the new CH I might accidentally press sidebuttons.

Anyway, both mice have been reported to have severe tracking problems so for the moment I'll stay away...

Sceptical, aren't we?

Basically both have problems tracking at high speed. CH also had movement lag but razer seems to have fixed it in the latest beta 6.14 firmware. CH also has erratic button behavior if more than two buttons are pressed simultaneously. Both seem to have trouble tracking on clear surfaces such as icemat.

Too many problems. I'd stay away from both of them for the time being and wait it out instead.

My Razer is sitting in my drawer, replaced by my MX518. Razer's are just too small. This is why I'm going to get the G7 probably. I like a mouse with some substance to it, not little danty delicate things for girlie-man hands. :D

Can't wait for the G7, assuming its lightweight battery is just that. I don't care about ultra-responsive, sensitivity switching, 18 button mice. I just want to be rid of the cord without taking a significant weight penalty for it.

Sorry to go off topic but where exactly did they move the main left/right buttons on the MX series mice? I was thinking about getting a new MX510 and got to looking and noticed there were no main buttons.

they're (the main left & right buttons) in the normal spots... it just doesn't look like they are there...
think of it as a cloaking device =P
i'm using a blue mx510 which i love... i think it feels better than the mx700/500 series~

The G5, and maybe G7, dont work right. When you click the scroll wheel, it also moves the scroller at times. This is a design defect, if you google it you can see a lot of people having trouble with this. This makes it not work right with Firefox/mozilla, not sure what other games/apps use the middle button.

G7 for me. I'll never use a corded mouse again, except when I'm mobile with the laptop.

2 socketed battery packs? YES. Never again will I have to worry about putting the mouse back in the cradle.

G5 for me. I've tried the Copperhead, It just felt uncomfortable in my hand. My G5 replaced my MX510, so it was more of a natural progression for me.

G5 for me, was going to be the G7 because I was upgrading from the MX1000, but because of how long it took between releases and the fact that I just decided I was tired of dealing with batteries, even if they were hot swap, I went with corded goodness. LOVE IT!
