G35 sedan owners, what tires do you use?

i don't have a G35 myself, but i have the stock 6 spoke 17" wheels. the tires are running thin on it and since my wife drives the maxima now, i want to get new tires on them. a friend of mine know somebody that might be able to get tires for me for cheap. please recommend some tires. they won't be for aggressive driving, since the wife drives it.

thanks

I'll agree with gregshin, those are good tires. They're a tad soft though. Check out Kumho Ecsta ASX's. They're harder and all-season but they also grip very well.

Meh. Tires are about grip and treadwear, not name brand😉 I had yokos before and these Kumhos are better so😛

different strokes for different folks...but can you compare a kumho tire to say the yokohama AVS sports tire? or even the yokohama ADVAN DB series?

No, not at all. I just had Paradas and wasn't too impressed. Not sure what I'll get next time around. I just know these Potenza RE 92's suck donkey balls.

I've driven an Evo..pretty sure those have Advans on them. My friend loves the AVS ES100's you recommended and I'll consider those as well.

i really only care about all season and treadwear. i don't need soft tires, i don't drive the maxima much anymore. the wife mainly just commutes in it, goes no more than 80mph, and turns corners around 15-20... i want something that'll last a good while, but not sh!tty no-name tires.

bang for the buck, thats what i'm looking for...not track or autocross tires for the wife...

price range would depend on the hookup i get from the guy my friend knows. he told me he gots his 18" in 245 for $100 a piece but i don't know what brand. i suppose i'm looking for something over 30k miles, but i really don't know, i don't know how long the stocks last since i bought them used. my previous car has 14s(!!!) and the tires on that lasted over 40k i think.

looks like the kumho ecsta asx are only $86 a piece on tirerack w/ pretty good reviews. it may be even cheaper with hookup. i guess i'll go with that. thanks for the input.

Avon M550 is worth a look.

RUN AWAY RUN AWAY

I have the POS M550 A/S tires. The ONLY reason that they are rated as highly on the TireRack site is because they are a HOUSE BRAND, any issues you have with the manufacturer will be resolved through TR.

I honestly believe that TR manipulates the reviews (like NewEgg) and keeps them rated higher than all other brands.

While their wet traction is good, it is not that much better than what any other new A/S tire should be.

The sidewalls are too soft to validate a Ultra Performance rating. Cornering ability is not a strong suit.

Tread wear is not even close to the claims/ratings on the site. You will loose the warranty within a few months.

Lastly my tires had severe run out. The installer (as listed on the TR site) tried to overcome this flaw with excessive wheel weights which I believe lead to me prematurely loosing 3/32" in tread (and out of warranty) within few thousand miles all while going back to the installer 3x to correct the vibration.

Since TR decided that it was now my problem I did a chargeback on my Visa and they will be wasting a even more money when they have to travel to Ohio to answer my claim that they breached the warranty of merchantability that I will be filing tomorrow.

Cliffs: Don't buy Avon, better yet, stay away from Tire Rack.

Michelin pilot sport A/S are pretty nice too

But I don't drive a G35
