G3 PowerBook

400Mhz
64mb RAM
6gb Harddrive
8mb Video

Im just not sure about the 8mb Video the website said something about 16mb or something.

and i know i have to upgrade to atleast 128mb Memory (thinking of just adding a simple 128 stick or 256)

what do you guys/girls think

Like you said the 64 Megs ram will be S L O W. Jump that to as high as you can go. It will work with 128 Megs but still be slow. What version of OSX you going to try? I was able to run Jaugar 10.2.1 on a old G4 with old ATI 8Meg PCI Card. Did not try Panther on it though.

well max is 384 I know mac utilize the memory differently than Windows therefore more is not needed.

I was thinking of Panther. But im not sure if its too much for this sytem. It currently has 9.3.

also what is the standard ram in these PC66/100/133?

I know lots of people that ran 10.2 fine with the G3 500 MHz and 128 mb of ram but it was a bit choppy/sluggish in a few places. I woudn't recommend it with 64 mb

If you have the backlit apple on your lid, then you can run OS X. Any of the previous PB G3's that didn't have the backlit apple couldn't.
