G.SKill PC4400 1GBLE not performing at rated speed...

I had some very nice BH-5, which I ran at 3.6v. Unfortinity, a few weeks ago I lost all stability. At DDR400, 2-3-3-10 and 3.0v, the ram gave errors in memtest. Doing some swapping of parts I determined that the ram was bad, and I decided I had enough with the risky voltages. I picked up some of the much acclaimed G.Skill to replace it. At its rated speed of 275mhz 2.5-3-3-7 however, the ram is somewhat unstable. I cant prime for long before it fails, and I have been getting some occasional crashing in CS:S. I need some opinions, think its the ram not performing up to spec, or could my mem controller be damaged?

well, run memtest on the memory first, that'll determine whether or not the memory is having problems, make sure you have it set to 275 mhz atleast in the bios before running memtest.

My gskill would run prime all day but since I use the test that does not test much ram, I only saw instability once I memteted it....It could not do 2.5,3,3,7 at 550ddr...actually it could not do it at 520 without memtest errors in test 5 at 20,40,60, and 80th pass...510ddr was 100% memtest free for 100 passes of test 5 and 6....I isolated mine to one bad stick...so I am rmaing it...Always failed memtest in sdame 800-1000mb range indicative of being in the slot 2 which the ram was...The obvious sign was in slot 1 or 3 that stick of ram would nmot boot (long beeps) or not load windows...even at 400ddr range....

I will let you know when I get them back. I have seen at extreme many guys using these tings and getting them to run 600+ddr with 2.85v or less...They should do it, but I have to admit from talkinmg to their rep they have been mainly tested moreon P4s to get those so called ratings...I think the A64 is far more sensitive...

I am glad I entertain you...cost me about 50 bucks since I had some old pc3500 stuff I sold on ebay.....never would have bought stuff gauranteed to do cas 2.5 at 550ddr unless I got good money for the existing geil sticks which would not do rated speeds on my board....

Trying to get more friends???

My 1 stick (the good one) does 290 1:1 at cas 2.5,4,4,10,1t....Does 310 1:1 at cas 3,4,4,11,1t....Hopefully I get some better sticks

Your lack of knowledge amuses me. This ram is guarenteed to do 275mhz 2.5-3-3-7 ON AMD and I have seen it do 300mhz 2.5-3-3-7 ON AMD.

Do a little research before you shoot your mouth off.
