Any thoughts on how well this RAM OCs? Looking to pair it with the Gigabyte GA-MA790FX-DS5 and a Phenom 9500.

the BHZ memory went up like a lot of the old D9 sticks since its no longer made.
I have 2 sticks in my older system and will move them to my new system this weekend...I am not sure how high they
will go but so far cooling is the only thing that keeps me from going faster and faster lol

didn't some site do a comparison on 2x1 vs 2x2 memory in 32 bit systems?
I have looked every where and can't find it.

Some people say that everything else being equal there is no real performance gain from more memory.
But I still want to try 4G ...and these are cheap

man I am going with them and give it a shot. 4 gig here I come

I got the ones posted above as well...I ordered them and then saw the 2x2 and tried to put the order together but the 2 gig already shipped CURSE you EGG....2 hrs and order out...
now I have to pay double free shipping :)

I owned that 4GB DDR2-8000 kit, and let me tell you it got nowhere @ 4-4-4-12 no matter the volts or speeds. For people looking for speed over quantity, and the ability to run 4-4-4-12 at high speeds, these and the Ballistix 8500 are the kits you want.

In a benchmark, maybe. In real world use there is no perceptible difference between 4-4-4 and 5-5-5.

Besides, would you really run THAT much voltage through them on a 24/7 basis to achieve 4-4-4? Not worth it at all.

"Real world" such as web browsing and such you can't tell, but for games and benching there is a noticeable difference. The chips on the Ballistix are designed to handle that much voltage 24/7 which is why you can run 2.3 or 2.4 all day.

The PowerChip IC on the 2x2 8000's is good to 1066 @ <2.0 volts. Way better than 2.3 or 2.4 IMO. Again, there is no perceptible difference between 4-4-4 and 5-5-5. My overclocked Ballistix show absolutely no performance gain by using 4-4-4 over 5-5-5. Maybe on an AMD system, but Intel doesn't matter.

BTW, the Ballistix 8500 are advertised as 2.2v at Newegg, which is already pushing it. With 2.3 or 2.4 you will most definitely need active cooling. The PowerChip IC's on the other hand run very cool even at high speed.

The SPD table (cpu-z) for my Ballistix PC2 8000 is identical to my Ballistix PC2 6400.

4-4-4 @ 1.8v @ 800
5-5-5 @ 2.2v @ 1000

Wow! Nice deal on 1066 memory! I ordered too soon. I ordered the Mushkin HP 2x2gb instead. Hopefully they will also go down in price, so I can get some money back. Newegg will give money back within 30 days of price drop. These are 2.0v. Standard is 1.8v. Personally I'd rather have lower voltage.

well I didn't have much faith in this $59 memory but I needed something to boot in my E8400.
I can say that it can do 950 5 5 5 15 2.0V
ps not sure if it needs 2.0 on the memory I believe I need more voltage on the NB instead

4.2Ghz so far and running fine...2 hrs of dual orthos and no problems running occt now and still nothing unusual.

temp is 48C on the processor with TRUE cooler so its my bios settings that are holding me back right now.

Active, do you own the DS3L? I only ask because I do and I would not recommend it. The vdroop on it leaves something to be desired. I think I would go with the IP35 over it.

my kit just came today, currently prime95 stable @ 816MHz 4-4-4-12 with 1.8 volts. Thats what it defaulted to on my mobo.
