Apparently he braked and the front end dipped & went underneath the other car? Was it an SUV by any chance? They're actually designed to go above the bulk of any cars they hit, that way it's more lethal for the car occupant(s).

The SUVs are not designed to "to go above the bulk of any cars they hit". This is just a colateral effect of their construction (protective shields in the front and rear to protect the radiator/engine/oil pan and fuel tank against off-road hazards.
It is bad - but you should learn something from that:
1. Accidents happens not when you are going fast and alert, but when you are going slow and relaxed
2. Bumper to bumper traffic is the most dangerous traffic situation for small accidents (even if they cost a fortune)
I went once 100 miles fast, with no perceived dangers, and I almost had not one but two or three emergency braking ending at less than 3 feets from the car in front of me on the last 10 miles, while going slow and not so alert

YES! Either that or it's because of ground clearance. Just like sports cars are the exact opposite... designed to kill you with their purposely low road-hugging frame.

paying attention is what i do worst.

Ack!.... unlike these other callous fvcks... you have my sympathy... MAN THAT SUCKS!... Murphy's law in action.

Personally, I reserve my sympathy for the guy who got rear-ended. He didnt fsck up, except to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. I got rear ended on the highway before, and it was a simple case of the guy two vehicles behind me not paying attention to the road. If you arent going to pay attention to where you are directing 3500lbs of metal to move towards, you shouldnt be sitting behind the wheel.

I got run off the road last week by an unattentive driver, 5:45am. Blind corner, he was too lazy or was not paying attenion, took half my lane. I had to ditch it to avoid a headon. Good thing one of us was paying attention or both would in bad shape. Hit some large rocks in the ditch and barely sideswiping a retaining wall. Two bent rims and flat tires with a little bumper/body damage. Best of all he kept on going with no concern for me.

5:45am comes around every morning and so far I haven't seen him, but that day will come.

Please let me know when you become perfect, and become capable of never ever making a mistake...

Where is he gloating? He's simply pointing out the fact that this guy feels the need to draw attention to himself, or worse yet, sympathy because he wasn't paying attention.

Last I checked, the OP was lamenting the fact that he screwed up and did 4K of damage to his beautiful car...

And people responded by saying essentially "Too fvcking bad, you're an idiot".

I feel sorry for the guy... everyone makes mistakes, it sucks when it happens.... and he has my sympathy.

You must be another one of those perfect people who never makes mistakes, and believe the OP got what he deserved?

Wow, you make far too many assumptions. What is your deal with classifying people who call others "dumb asses" as perfect? What kind of a moron does that? Have you never called anyone a dumbass, or yelled at them for a mistake?

Mookow was simply responding to you who gave sympathy for the guy. If that guy could cause $4K going less than 10mph in bumper to bumper traffic, then he is a fvcking idiot.

nonono I call people dumbasses all the time.... usually when they disagree with me.
But I think everyone was too hard on the OP, I mean for godsakes isnt the 4K mess enough of a punishment for his mistake without being blasted by a bunch of net geeks?

If you arent going to pay attention to where you are directing 3500lbs of metal to move towards, you shouldnt be sitting behind the wheel.

And that line was horse manure... everyone makes mistakes.

Of course, I realize arguing for ATOTers to be "sweet and understanding" is like arguing for Hinduism in Saudi Arabia... but still...

All you other suckers should lighten up.

Yeah, it's called not paying attention or following too close. Either way it is your fault. You fvcked up.

Tickets are just a result of poor judgement. Completely different problem.

i thank you all for your sincerity. hey, i wasn't paying attention, plain and simple.

I should have learned from my previous thread about my last previous speeding ticket that everybody here doesn't speed and doesn't get into accidents.

i just wanted a freakin place to vent and rant and the like, which is what atot is for last time i checked.

hey, all i am grateful for is that neither I nor the person I smacked was hurt.

this is the reason that we all pay insurance.

Yeah, everyone on ATOT drives exactly the speed limit, wears their seatbelt, and never ever ever make any mistakes.
