Yeah, everyone on ATOT drives exactly the speed limit, wears their seatbelt, and never ever ever make any mistakes.

When in fact most ATOT drivers are just like everyone else out there: 90% average (99% of these self assess themselves as good drivers), 5% bad (causes accidents + near misses) and 5% good (avoids accidents + near misses).

kermalou is not a bad driver, just an average one. This comment is not meant to be negative.

Last I checked, the OP was lamenting the fact that he screwed up and did 4K of damage to his beautiful car...

And people responded by saying essentially "Too fvcking bad, you're an idiot".

I feel sorry for the guy... everyone makes mistakes, it sucks when it happens.... and he has my sympathy.

You must be another one of those perfect people who never makes mistakes, and believe the OP got what he deserved?

A car "accident" is when your brakes suddenly fail and you have no way to stop without hitting something or someone. Or other unforseeable events. However, practically every car "accident" should be filed under "negligence/user error/stupidity". And just saying "sorry to hear that" makes it sound like it wasnt his fault. I really dont tolerate people carelessly operating things that are potentially lethal to others, whether it be a motor vehicle or a firearm.

If you arent going to pay attention to where you are directing 3500lbs of metal to move towards, you shouldnt be sitting behind the wheel.
And that line was horse manure... everyone makes mistakes.

Everyone makes mistakes, true. I dont see that as a reason to tolerate people wrecking the property or taking the lives of others because they couldnt be bothered to pay attention.

10 miles an hour and $4000 in damage? I call BS on that.

I was in a Cavalier that got tagged by a small pickup truck doing about that speed (and pushed into a Jeep), and it got totalled. Besides, $4K damage to a mercedes isnt all that much physical damage compared to $4K to a Chevy.

don't feel too bad kermalou, i was driving up an unfamiliar hill the other day, and didn't realize that there was a stoplight on the other side of the hill. came up the hill, and went over the crest only to see that the light was red and traffic was backed up all the way to the top of the hill. speed limit was 60, i was doing 45 when i came up, and i couldn't stop in time and ended up rear-ending the suv in front of me. there was no damage to the suv thankfully, since he had a trailer hitch on and i tried to swerve off the road as much as possible. however, the front end of my car was banged up pretty bad (he had an older suv, one of those with metal bumpers). 2003 mazda protege with 4k+ of damages =/

accidents happen, i understand.

and mookow, its an "accident" if you don't cause it intentionally.

i thank you all for your sincerity. hey, i wasn't paying attention, plain and simple.

I should have learned from my previous thread about my last previous speeding ticket that everybody here doesn't speed and doesn't get into accidents.
We all speed at one time or another, and most of us will be in an accident in our lifetime. But most of us generally drive safely. From your posts, you obviously do not.

I don't bash someone for one isolated problem - and others here would be better off if they didn't either. But you don't have one isolated problem. So people here know who they are dealing with lets look at other things you've posted. From your speeding ticket thread:
fourth speeding ticket i have gotten in the past 8 years...not the worst...stoned out of our minds, smoking cigs and what not...got pulled over for:
1. speeding
2. driving with reckless abandon
3. littering (throwing a lit cig out of the window)
4. no drivers license
5. no proof of insurance
6. no proof of registration

# 4- 7 were in the dash with the weed, so couldn't give it to the officer.
[*]So you admit you drive stoned,
[*]you admit you don't pay attention (quoted above),
[*]you admit you speed,
[*] you admit don't wear seat belts,
[*] you let your 11 year old brother drive,
[*] you have "an urge to ram into every cop on the road, steal some cars, and ROLL THROUGH STOP SIGN AND RED LIGHTS", and
[*] you have a parking ticket problem.
[*] Also you say in another thread that you "know from experience" that once someone drinks and drives they don't stop drinking and driving. Since that doesn't actually say you drink and drive, I won't link to it. But it gives the impression that you might be the one with experience of drinking and driving. I may be wrong, feel free to let me know and I'll delete this last point.

Man you are full of it.... you mean to tell me you've never ever been distracted for even a second while driving?... NEVER? And why don't you read the damn thread?... Noone was hurt.

I know you like to think yo sh!t don't stink, but lean a little bit closer... see roses really smell like poop poo

i just wanted a freakin place to vent and rant and the like, which is what atot is for last time i checked.

hey, all i am grateful for is that neither I nor the person I smacked was hurt.

this is the reason that we all pay insurance.

I always wear my seatbelt :frown:
except when going in reverse when parking, as the law allow me to not use it

Hmmm... about the speed limit... what was the next question?
