G box midnight mx2

Anyone have one of these? A friend of mine has it and they cut their cable completely. Has all the channels that play live as well as on demand stuff all through custom add ons you can install. Was thinking of getting one to try it. Currently its $80 on amazon but I dunno what the difference is with others that are selling for around $200.

Assuming this:

Running Openelec etc?

If that is the case, I bet you'll get more folks who suggest ChromeBox and then perform the steps to upgrade that. Myself, I've found that the FireTV (not the stick) is a very nice platform and you can sideload SPMC on it (a fork of XBMC more suitable for android).
Yea except my neighbor got it off someone and paid $200 for a fully loaded one. I'm not sure if it is the mx 2 or q model.

All I'm interested in getting is all the same channels they get like discovery, AMC, he has all of them live, HBO, there was literally hundreds of channels of content both prerecorded and live. Didn't have time to go through all of them but to me it looked like cable until they told me they cancelled and just use that box and internet.

I don't know how he's getting HBO, but I'm pretty sure it's not legal. Unless you're confused, it's an Apple TV, and he's subscribed to HBO Now. (Although there might be a way to get HBO Now on a device like you describe as soon as next month.)

Could be the case but all other cable channels I have they also have listed in their xbmc under programs and shows too. I don't just have normal cable so it must all be repositories that pulls that stuff in.
