One of my co-workers who is from India told me once that he loves shopping on Black Friday because the massive amounts of people and huge crowds remind him of shopping back in India, so he goes every year.

That's exactly the reason I avoid it. I can't stand big crowds of people, no deal is worth that to me.

In a pure monetary sense, Black Friday is better than Christmas! Think about it:

When Christmas comes, I often up spending more on gifts than what I receive, so I end up losing money on the deal to get gifts that I may or may not want. Yeah, yeah... it's the thought that counts... Whatever

When Black Friday comes, I get exactly what I want and I get to save money on it! Double bonus!

i havent seen any compelling black friday deals for many years now. got a nice optical drive on a whim at noon a long time ago... but recently it seems you'd have to camp out the night before, and race other people for an 25% off-brand television set... not so nice

Agree. Looking at the current ads for BF, nothing really stands out and worth getting up early for.

I'm getting the $999 50" Vizio plasma from Costco. No lines and they open late so I can sleep in. I got the 42" Vizio plasma for $999 last year at Costco and am extremly happy with it.

Thanks, I have always wondered about those Vizios at Costco's. Maybe I'll take a look at them, but I wanted to do some painting and spackling in the TV room first before buying one. You're gonna mount it on the wall or it has a stand?
