Jesus... Seeing numbers like that make me so glad I built an APU system. Even after OC'ing the GPU to 1085MHz from 800MHz and pushing 2133 RAM, my system only consumes 155w~ at total load under things like AIDA's system stability test or Folding@Home (GPU+CPU). All I did was kick the vcore of the CPU down a bit. Under CPU-only load, the system only eats around 110w. I could probably save even more power if I upgraded to an 80 Plus PSU.
Idle is 38w.
Centauri: I"ll tell you what my measurements of power were but first the specs on the system less the monitor. Asus Sabertooth FX mb Rev 1 with 16 G DDR3 ram OC, Haf932 case with 2 230 mmfans, 1 in front and I in side. Corsair H100 cooler with 4 Corsair HP fans 120mm exhaust fan, FX8350 OC to 4600Mhz (21x219) with vcore at 1.46 for stability no matter what programs are run, 2 EVGA GTX670 FTW video cards in SLI with EVGA precision settings at 145%v gpu offset 134 and mem offset 334. I have 3 HDs Intel X25-M 80 g, WD Velocity Raptor 150g and WD blue 500g.
I use a Kill A Watt P3 measuring device and Use AIDA64 Stress test with ALL items check when I run stress test (CPU,FPU,cache, sys mem, disks and gpus).
This is not listed to make excuses for the large power draw, just to fully disclose that I am measuring all of these items on overall Power draw ( I happen to think some member understate actual power draw)
At Idle system draws 164W
On full stress 500W and I've seen spikes as high as 575.
When buying a new PSU you have to ask how far will you push the system.
