$1500? Wouldnt spend it for that cpu. Not even for $1200. But thats just me. The prices on some of these chips nowadays is just plain ridiculous. Just my opinion though. Hopefully they'll hit mainstream fast and push down prices on existing chips.

Hello, all the questions people leave this guy are virtually identical to the previous ones. No one appears to be reading the previous questions and answers. Hah! Well, since he said he was going to bench this processor, I asked if the box he was selling was unopened since the item description is not perfectly clear on that but seems to hint at it rather directly. We'll see if he posts my question with a wink wink dig at us guys on Anandtech.

The FX-60 is dual-core socket 939 2.6 GHz, 2x 1 MB cache, probably unlocked.

The FX-60 and X2 5000+ will be socket AM2 (DDR2), not socket 940.

FX-60 S939= Cream of the crop Toledo cores, 2.6Ghz, 2x1024KBs L2 cache and unlocked.

A64 X2 5000+= Cream of the crop Manchester cores, 2.6Ghz, 2x512KBs L2 and half-locked.

It is no surprise that a FX-60 can handle 3.0Ghz easily with little or no voltage boosts. It still doesn't beat my Opteron 165@2502Mhz in price/performance area. The FX-60 does have the advantage of requiring far less voltage to obtain such speeds.

I doubt it is fake but he has to clarify whether the buyer is going to receive a socket 939 processor or a socket AM2 processor. Thus, does he know the that motherboard is not even out yet let alone an adapter card for such motherboard that claimed to be M2 capable?

Besides, I'm assuming that price includes insurance, which IMO is necessary for an expensive item like this.

I wouldn't complain on $25 shipping for a $1500 item. The shipping works out to 1.6% of the price; that's like paying $1.60 for a $100 item.


As for the actual CPU itself: what a waste of money!

You're right - I was lazy and didn't check and assumed insurance was included. It isn't, so he wants 36 straight up (insurance is 'required'). That is some gouging.

But for worldwide it's even worse! $55 + $11 = $66! Yikes!
