I personally have given up on that race (well, sort of) since my purchase of 2 GTX 512s. I don't think I'll spend that kind of money again on hardware.
Yeah it does hurt a bit after the honeymoon period, when the manufacturer releases something better, in a short period of time. Anyway I want to start saving to buy a new car![]()

I thought FX-60 was supposed to be at least 2.8Ghz. 2.6Ghz was kinda odd. I hope it's not some stupid idiot who thought by selling FX-57 OC'ed to 2.8 makes him able to sell the processor as FX-60 *sigh*
I've met quite a bit of those people in my lifetime unfortunately...
Edit: *sigh* the person is not a stupid idiot but he did stumble upon something:
Q: ciao, is that the new fx-60? isn't it a dual 2,8ghz core? and is it still a 939 socket? therically it has to be a socket M... let me know ciao
Dec-16-05
A: It is 939 and 2.6GHz. The FX-60 and the X2 5000+ will be 940's
So which one is right then? Is it Socket 939 or Socket M2?

Thats US rate. BUT seriously now, you're gonna drop $1500 on a cpu and you wanna complain about the $25 shipping cost lol. Guy is smart, if you have money for $1500 processor, YOU GOT THE EXTRA 25 BUCKS!

1200 for dual 2.6 ghz 1 meg L2 is a decent price.
a fx55 which is 2.6 ghz 1 meg L2 is around 800ish.
so you're getting 2 FX-55s for the cost of a FX-57 (which is around 1100).
and these are hitting 3 ghz so...

lol......that's like saying, "if you can afford an Aston Martin, you should be charged $12 a gallon for gas, instead of the $2 a gallon Kia drivers pay".

I don't think you need to pay for shipping every week on this CPU.
Besides, I'm assuming that price includes insurance, which IMO is necessary for an expensive item like this.
I wouldn't complain on $25 shipping for a $1500 item. The shipping works out to 1.6% of the price; that's like paying $1.60 for a $100 item.

OK, not the best analogy
But no, insurance is another $11!
My point is, just because it's a $1200 item rather than a $12 item doesn't mean it's OK to charge five times more for shipping than it actually costs.

As for the actual CPU itself: what a waste of money!
Hey Rich, whereabouts are you located in England?
