It probably won't do well with games and the 4GB mem is a waste for anything lower than 1920x1080 Imma think :p

It is a bit interesting to see that they can fit 4GB of memory on the card.

Part of it is just using higher density ICs, though that's usually good for just merely doubling RAM.

Pretty sure that it is a 4GB GTX 280-based card.

The Quadro FX 5800, already seen in NVIDIA's Quadro Plex D data cruncher, replaces the 5600 at the top of the NVIDIA heap with 240 CUDA-programmable parallel cores and the industries first card with 4GB of graphics memory. MSRP? Just $3,499

I'm in for 2

Wow, just wow ...

:::sigh::: What's wrong now, Marc?

It's not a gaming videocard. I'll just leave it at that.

Yup. Quadro and GeForce do not share the same model numbering scheme. So a Quadro 5700 would not have anything in common with a GeForce 5700 for example.

Did somebody say it was? I thought the title said, "Graphics Card".

I like the name of this card. :D

If it's like all the other Quadros in the past, it is probably the same as the GTX 280, but with more (but slower) memory and a slightly faster core. The huge price tag comes from the software certification for various 3D modeling programs.

Why do you ask? Don't you know what the quadro series are for?

I guess they are hoping that their target market with this won't know about the gamer 5800 card. :p

Yeah. I was thinking the same thing. 2GB would make more sense for higher density RAM.
4GB makes it sound like it has a 1024 bit memory controller, or 2 512's. LOL.

It was a bit rhetorical keys. Because wreckage said he'd be getting two ...

For $12,000, I'd say that would be the biggest waste of money next to the Killer NIC.

That's would be nice and all, but doesn't Quadro SLI only support 2 cards?

Yeah your really cool

Tell me when a softmod comes out for the GTX280.

And you missed the humor. These cards are 3500 dollars each. He was joking about getting two, let alone one with this super high corporate price tag. So, in other words, he is not getting any. Zilch.

Hell, maybe I should pick up six or seven of these myself.

Apparently SSChevy missed it to.

It's an interesting piece of tech, but of course not even that can be posted without a few people jumping in to spoil anything NVIDIA related.

This is a card that many in the CAD/Animation field would be very interested in.
