This question has been debated absolutely to death . Check out the search function; you'll find dozens of exhaustive threads. It really depends on what you intend to do. I'm a dual core fan, and think that multiple processors are an advantage under Windows in nearly all circumstances, but read the old threads and you'll see lots of other knowlegeable opinions.
