Apologies if already posted.

Cool find! Seems that the 8350 at least matches the 2600k in multi threaded performance however stills lags behind in single threaded stuff. However, I wasn't expecting much (unlike the same time last year lol) so not disappointed. Especially if the price is competitive.

Price is 208$ @ shopblt. If it indeed OCs to 5Ghz on wc setup it is a worthy successor to 8150 (Since we get higher max. clock and higher IPC).

So as OBR said.... 4-5% IPC\Clock for clock improvements ST.

Bigger improvements for CMT in threaded scenarios.
A cheap good encoding\video CPU - but else it's a hard buy at 250 USD imho :/

Why are they comparing to 1st gen i7's 😵

If AMD's 4ghz part can compete with a 4ghz i7 960 I am very pleased with AMD. Now for single threaded...

edit: wait a minute, CB11.5 8150 at 4ghz would score ~6.6
why are we pleased that this gets 6.8 at 4ghz?
Only makes sense if it clocks to 5ghz consistently. Probably looking at 4.8 realistically. I guess that's nothing to sneeze at, but Intels will clock to 4.8, too, so you're still looking at much better performance if you go Intel... 🙁

used to 242 for 8320 and 254 for 8350.

Let's see what the EGG\retail partners set it to, rahter than raw distributors.
If you compare shopblt's price for say 8150 and newegg's price for 8150,you will see that newegg has even better price for this model: 190$ vs 198$. Same goes for 5800K : 129$ vs 131$ in favor of newegg. So if anything shopblt has a bit higher prices and 8350 may end up around 200$ or a bit over that on newegg.

only Intel fanboys, shrills, employees, and shareholders test AMD processors against modern Intel processors.

It is unfair to AMD to test their processors against Sandy Bridge, Ivy Bridge, or Haswell. It is also unfair to test an overclocked Intel processor against an overclocked bulldozer. The only fair testing is a stock Intel processor from 2008 versus an overclocked bulldozer with liquid nitrogen cooling.

Pretty much this, the last time AMD had put up any shred of competition to Intel was before Sandy Bridge came out. Even then it had nothing at all at the high end, RIP Phenom II.

Yeah, all that sarcastic stuff. Woo. Lol. and stuff.

Or, there could be an easy explanation, like how it it could be that is all this guy had available. I mean, it is just some guy on a forum, not a fully-equipped reviewer with tons of free equipment.

Pretty much it's the stuff C11.5 shows by default. And Hardocp forum has users with SB i7s,I'm sure somebody already posted their results in those crappy benchmarks anyway.

I'm interested why that guy doesn't post load power numbers,he already has a power meter.

At 4.5Ghz I guess thats at least decent. Not too bad. I remember my 2600K getting something like 8-9 while at 4.3Ghz if I recall correctly, but thats pretty OK I suppose. If its cheap then thats not a bad budget CPU. If I was really tight on cash and didn't have a PC I might consider it maybe, I duno. I'm just throwing aMd a bone here because I don't want them to go under. I figure if I say nice things about aMd maybe people will buy their stuff and then my next Intel build might be cheaper that way.

Maybe it hasn't occurred to him to do so yet. Or maybe he hasn't had time. You could join the thread and ask him nicely, maybe he would do it.

What is the stock voltage on these Piledriver chips? In every CPU-Z screenshot I see, the voltage seems really high.

I suppose in the end all that really matters is how much power it draws and how well it performs.

^if it's clocked high and the voltage is high the power will be high. It'll have to be.
Us OCers never cared about power really, just if we can hit 5ghz with this I think we'll be mighty happy.

Yes, get your digs in... that's obviously what's going on here.

And look at this! Pffffft! Testing the 2700K vs. those same processors to make it look good.

Look what else I've uncovered... Ivy Bridge too! There is some malarky going on in the tech world!
