OKAY ROLLO, the 5800 IS THE BEST CARD EVER, FX RULES, to bad most people still prefer the 9700 pro, FX line is still crap to me. Benchmarks? look at 3dmark05 where the FX line is crippled by intense DX9.

I'd still take a 9800P over any FX card.

Snowman and Bouzouki seem like good guys, but Anand is a famous hardware reviewer, and I've replicated his findings with my own 9700P and 5800U.

You can rest assured that when ATI someday figures out how to build it's second generation DX9 part, it will be better than it's predecessor too? ;-)

I've never said the nV3X line was better than the R300 line, because it's not.

What I've always said is that the difference in gaming, at playable settings is not great enough to warrant this ridiculous fanboy monkey spanking over a card that was marginally better.

Unlike 99.9999% of you, I had both and can tell you for the most part you couldn't tell the difference with the counter off, except for the tiny hairdryer whine of the FlowFX.

BTW- while you're right that 53 vs 45 at UT2003 is a 17% victory for the 9700Pro, most UT2003 players who like to survive would never play at either? 😉

On a side note, ATI will most likely not be this aggressive with their new chip. The performance of the R300 was very good with what we have seen of current games, and they just won't need to push as hard as NVIDIA did this time around. Their architecture was already well suited to the current climate, and we can expect small refinements as well as an increase in the width of their pixel pipe (which also looks like it will be 16x1). Of course, ATI's performance this time around will be increased, but just how much will have to remain a mystery for a couple more weeks.

Nah, the 5800U won't run in SLI mode, like the S3 ViRGE will. 😉
