Is this card any good for its' price? A Gainward model costs about $140 dollars, and they come in 256 MB versions, I was just thinking, my cousin has just built a new system, and hes running painkiller on an mx440, I know he wants up upgrade, but he doesnt want to spend a fortune. And CANT for that matter. $150 would be TOPS. Your thoughts?

yes, ive seen the pic, but we arent talking about a 5700 ultra, we're talking about a regular 5700, which is like $65 dollars cheaper. Some benchmarks instead of funny pics mabye?

Isnt the 9600XT going for 149.00 shipped from newegg now? HERE

The 5700nu is going for 139.00 shipped from newegg. HERE

Keep in mind that the 5700nu is considerably slower than both the 9600XT and the 5700U.

The best you can get for 150 would be the 9600XT new. If your against getting ATI, then the 5700nu will be the best you can do for that price
range. Unless of course you can find a used 5700U or 5900SE/XT in the FS/FT forum for that much.

Yea, he had mentioned getting an nVidia card, he's a big fan of coolbits. So you're saying that a 5700 nu is an "ok" card for his purposes? The rest of his system is up to par, its just that he's running it with an mx440 now thats KILLING it performance wise. THIS card by Gainward seems to be faster than the other cards in its' category, for $140 would this be a decent deal?

Tell him that if he doesn't spend the extra $10 on the 9600XT, Baby Jesus will cry.

The 9600XT would Rick James the 5700NU seven days a week.

Yah, I think the extra 10 bucks will be wisely spent in this case. He should be real happy with it.

hes so stupid!!!!!!! he spent like 100 bucks to get new knobs on his guitar!!!! I guess while he's re-earning that cash the prices might fall. So i'll reccomend a 9600XT as of now, thanks all. And i'm sure that'll "Rick James" the mx440 ;)

If noise isn't an issue, there's no reason not to go with that $159 XFX 5900XT. Otherwise, yeah, that $153 Gigabyte 9600XT @ Allstarshop is a better buy than a $140 5700.

Sneaky, our friendly neighborhood Vonkhan has some very nice options in FS/FT HERE

He is an excellent trader. I have traded with him before.

He has a 5900SE. Check it out. Tell em Keys sent ya!!! :)

Hell, you can sell your card to your cousin and get the 5900SE for yourself! Nice trade off.

Keys brought up a great point.

Why don't you sell him your PNY 5700Ultra for $150 and pay about $30 more for
a shiny new 5900XT card?

That way you'll both be happy and you'll get a nice boost in performance :)

Or just 5 dollars more if he gets the one in the FS/FT forum.

remember, the 9600XT is faster then the 5900XT and it is cheaper, so 5900XT is useless.

wow, you're really oblivious arent you? Look at any review out there, I don't think i've once seen a 9600xt come ahead of a 5900se or xt. The 9600xt's 128 bit memory and 4 pipelines limit it.

every single review i have seen shows the 9600XT above the 5900XT, so dont go saying my statements are opinions or drug based(hehe) because the reviews show the 9600XT coming out on top.

Edit: Woops my bad, i got the 5900XT mixxed with some other card. 5900xt is faster then 9600 xt.

Nice. Your parents get you a Christmas present, and you want to sell it.
