FX-53 fails Prime95 immediately!

The error code you were getting is irq_not_less_or_equal_to right? or something to that effect? Because i did recieve that same kind of code on one of my rigs, and by swapping the cd-rom it stopped doing it. Just a idea, otherwise, some of your settings must be wrong or hardware doesnt like to work with your other stuff.

Can the CD ROM problem have occurred even on games that don't use it? (Half life 2, Prey Demo, imaged games)?

Do you mean just swapping it to a different bay with my other drive or switching the ide channel? Not sure how to do the latter...
