I think this thread has branched out in so many directions, its hard to see who is really responding to who and why we're arguing. I'm not one of those drivers who goes into a car and turns everything off, but I'll end my participation in this thread just saying depending on the situation and car, sometimes its better to have one or the other.

I will rarely if ever turn ABS off unless it is malfunctioning. Traction control, I will turn off depending on the conditions and car I am in.

Getting unstuck in snow seems like the only situation in which turning off traction control is ever recommended.

I do know there was an issue with certain cars (Gen 3 Eclipses for example), where if the car actually lost grip and slid, the ABS and traction control system would disengage until you turned the car off and then back on.

The arguing was because one or two users were trying to claim ABS was the reason they wrecked or couldn't control their car; which is wrong in all accounts.

I largely agree that some could be soured by early or poor efforts in technology.

My previous truck had single rear channel ABS which was not the best.

You know for years I though aluminum engines were garbage because of the Vega but now no one thinks twice about it...
