I have a package that I have been waiting on since Wednesday morning. It finally made it to the FedEx office here Friday at 3am. I thought surely it would be delivered yesterday afternoon. For whatever reason it wasn't. I called FedEx this morning to ask if I could pick up the package myself since I was already going to be in the part of town where the station the package is at is located. I finally got to talk to a human after about 10 minutes, explained that I wanted to pick up the package since I would only be a few blocks away. They told me that the station was open today, but that I wouldn't be allowed to pick up the package. I asked them why and was told "Corporate policy is that we must make one attempt to deliver before a package can be picked up at the station" I told her that was ridiculous, but she stated again that I could not pick up the package myself until they have attempted at least once to deliver it.

What a bunch of bullsh1t!!!

Here's what is going to happen now. They will try to deliver the package on Monday when I am not at home. I will get the failed delivery attempt slip. Drive into Tulsa, I live in a suburb, which is a 25 minute drive to their station, then have to go inside, wait while they find the package, then finally take delivery. All this could be avoided if they would just let me pick it up today since I am already going to be in the area at another place of business.

Fvcking idiots!!!!!!!!!!!

It may very well be packed up inside a truck already. Surely you wouldn't expect them to rummage through a truck for one package, would you?

BTW, I think FedEx sucks bad, but they may have a very good reason on this point.

Actually I asked the woman that. She said according to what she was seeing the package was sitting in the station. Said they normally do not put packages in the the trucks until they are ready to go out since the trucks sit outside and are unsecured. Said they scan them when they are put on a truck and that my package was still showing it's location as being the sort floor of the station number.

just go by the station and try and pick it up.. who knows.. if you show up there and act like you weren't aware of the policy they may just let you grab it since you're there...

Nope....never see em. They always try to deliver while I'm at work. So the routine is, I come home, grab the delivery slip, drive across town, pick up the package, drive home.

So dude, just sign the driver release waiver so that from now on all your packages can be dropped off at your house at a specified location.

Unless I'm missing something here.

But yeah that policy kinda sucks.

haha so wait - you've been waiting on this package since Wednesday morning. I bet you paid for Ground shipping and somehow expected it expedited?

works for me everytime.

then again, the fedex guy ALWAYS leaves his stuff on my back porch whenever i'm not home. nobody is ever in our neighborhood but my neighbors, so i don't worry about anything but weather...

i'd try leaving a SIGNED note on your door - they may be cool about just leaving it.

Yes leave a signed note...
Also I called fedex and asked if I could go pick it up at the sort facitlity, and they said no problem. But the guy I talked to seemed kinda clueless(he didn't know billable stamps were and had to go ask about them)

Why do you want to go pick it up? what's the point of their delivery then? you're making their jobs too easy and encourage them not to make a delivery attempt. Why not just leave them their and wait till all their customer comes and pick them up? woohoo! that solves having to pay their carrier and the cost go down considerabely :D
btw, who pays for our gas? :( and the time it takes for you to drive their and come back. I don't think they liked being harassed, that's why they prefer you to not come over... your attitude scares me because you have no patient.

Can you sign a form that says it's ok to leave the package if you aren't home. Maybe asking to leave it w/ a neighbor or a secure drop box? Something to consider for the future if you can't be home...

Instead of signing a blanket release waiver, as long as the shipper did not require a signature upon delivery, a signed note or letter left on the door or typical delivery location will suffice.

This letter is what I use, folded and left discreetly in the delivery location.

Did that in the past and had a package disappear. Won't do it again.
