Fvcking communists.

StageLeft

No Lifer
So we went there for our honeymoon four years ago and the communist pigs went through our checked in luggage on the way back to Canada, relieving it of an irreplaceable watch, a camera with honeymoon pics (nothing naughty), and a pair of earrings, plus another couple of trinkets. I learned two lessons: 1) Don't check in anything of value (I've only travelled previously to good countries, and never had this problem) and 2) Communists are bad.

Mrsskoorb has a cousin who also had tons of electronics stolen from his bag on the way out, and her parents recently got back and had an electric razor taken from their luggage.

For me personally the sour feeling this gave me makes me quite uninterested in visiting that country ever again, and for any Canadian reading this and thinking about going to Cuba I feel that you should know about the thieving fvcking communists.

What brought this up if it happend 4 years ago? And oh yeah, if you didn't know that Cuba=Bad then I don't know what to say.

Sorry to hear that. I heard their cigars aren't all that anymore either. But I have no first hand knowledge...they're illegal here.

It's not thievery, it's redistribution of wealth 😛

But seriously...yeah. Fvck Cuba and their pinko, hippy counterparts over here.

Because it happened recently to her parents. I thought maybe we and her cousin just had bad luck, but with it happening to her parents too I can statistically say with certainty that communists are bastards.

I bet since most people don't put valuables in their checked baggage, it is happening to just about everyone who does. So even if it only happens to 5% of the people who go there, that's probably 99% of the people who had valuables in their luggage.

I know three people that this happened to in Brazil. Fscking Democracies.

Let's blow up all the commies and capitalist pigs!

I think linking theft to political systems in this way is kinda thin cause and effect.

Man, herald trumpets please:

Specious Reasoning!

Wow, I didn't realize people wanted to vacation there. We talked to a couple whiel on our cruise who were from Canada and had vacationed in Cuba previously and they had nothing but bad things to say about the country.

Cuba isn't communist, it's a poor attempt at communism. No country has ever been truly communist.

Because communism is impossible. Any and every attempt will quickly fall into authoritarianism as the elite have to FORCE the people to give up their freedoms individuality and ambitions.

Communism can never work because it goes against basic human nature.

Yep.

I gave up on vacationing in third world countries a long time ago. It's just not worth it.

If you want a tropical paradise, try Hawaii or the South Pacific.

Like what? The prices were good. The weather was good. We did leave the resort once, and yeah the country is a joke. On our way to the resort we got to see starving cattle and people living in terribly slummy conditions. Not flies buzzing around their head with distended organs, like in Africa, but these were not rich people!

Anyway, next time I want a beach resort I'll go somewhere nicer that has ICE MACHINES and doesn't seel a funky cuban version of coca cola.

They had no complaints about the resort, only the country itself.

Why would you go to Cuba for a honeymoon?
It's fairly cheap.

But the hidden fees are a bitch, huh?
Yeah, plus there's always that lingering doubt as to whether you'll get siezed in the airport and held on trumpted up charges for political disruption or something.

Communism in theory is wonderful, in practice though... it's complete crap.

/que Amused.

I got nothing really to add. Whether or not you think the concept is wonderful, it is true the practice is "complete crap."

Why argue when he's right?
