Why the hell is it that the media is just now catching onto this?

I've seen 3 news stories on it in the past 2 weeks like it's something new.

And now my radio/television teacher wants a class who takes 3 months to edit a 2 minute video segment in iMovie to fvcking make podcasts to share. I hate people sometimes.

No I hate it because people are hyping it up like it's some brand new thing as if Shoutcast and the Lycos or AltaVista or whatever radio station thing there was before that.

It's not a new idea and I hate the fact that all these n00bs are like "oMg PODcazting!"

So you hate the hype, not actual podcasting.

Well I hate podcasting too because it's just Apple taking an old idea and giving it a new name like always.

It's also stupid because it's not even live internet radio, so you have to waste more time downloading the podcast first then finding out if it's worth downloading it or not.

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about if you think the term podcasting was coined by Apple.

I don't know who it was coined by but it's aimed mainly at Apple's iPod. I haven't looked much into it other than downloading a few podcasts and reading briefly about it. From what I've read it's nothing new or innovative compared to Shoutcast.

This is the best explanation that I've found for it. It's a lot like any other pre-recorded audio program on the web, except that:

* You need some irritating "Podcasting" software like iPodder or jPodder to easily download it. Of course, most of the people who read this forum are smart enough just to cut and paste the location of the MP3 out of the silly little XML wrapper that they use.

* It has a trendy new name with either "i" or "pod" in the title, therefore it MUST be cool, right? :)

Anyway, I can't wait for Gurck's thoughts on this one. Hell, I'll probably agree with him for a change on how stupid this new fad is.

I think the main reason I got so pissed off is because someone mentioned it in Vent and it reminded me of my teacher saying how we should do it, like anybody wants to fvcking listen to a bunch of morons who suck at life and are immature talk about whatever the fvck they think is important.

Honestly, who wants to listen to that sh1t?

Way to read the thread douche.

And if you knew anything about me I hate people who are like "I heard about this before you did." I just think it's stupid of the media to give coverage to something now that has been around in full form now for a good amount of time.
