WHAT THE HELL?

I simply DO NOT understand this bullshit. I purchase SEC championship game tickets on EBAY for 575 dollars. I go to pay the seller, and Paypal has the credit card option greyed out. Why? They can't tell me. Said they have no criteria for blocking transactions, but that I triggered it. :roll: :roll: :roll: :roll: :roll::roll: :roll: :roll:

How? How the fvck do I trigger some "doesn't even exist" safeguard? I bought two tickets to Auburn/UT about 2 months ago using the SAME account and CC. This time? Nope, I'm obviously Osama Bin Laden's freaking son or something.

But sir, it is in the user agreement. That's bullsh!t. You mean the TOS they change every 2 hours?

Bastards. They can shove that user agreement right up their scamming, pathetic, milquetoast piece of monkey feces company's ass.

it wouldn't gray it out in that case. the seller would have to manually bounce the payment.

No, but they state that if you have a cheqing account, the seller can bar you from using your CC and make you use the balance that is already in your Paypal, or in your checking account.

Simms - Is this a common occurrence? I've yet to verify my paypal account but was planning to set up a separate checking account with a near zero balance largely because I don't trust paypal to have access to my other bank accounts. But if sellers typically bar people from paying via CC once they've verified themselves with a working checking account, maybe I won't bother. When I reach the $2000 limit, I'll just close the paypal account and go back to sending checks through the mail.

There's no financial reason for a business seller to block a credit card payment; paypal charges the seller the same fees whether or not the payment came from the buyers credit card or bank account. The only sellers who'd benefit are personal accounts that don't allow creditcard payments anyway.

As far as seller/buyer protection, I guess the non-creditcard payment may be slightly safer but if you follow the rules paypal puts out, there's not much difference.

Man, $5xx to see the game.... 19" High End LCD or Football.... hmmmm.... ;)

It isn't the seller. I've already spoken to him via e-mail, and he's ticked off about it too. Paypal says that one of us triggered a fraud alert, but they can't say which one -- and we both have perfect feedback on ebay, so I'm not worried about the guy. His e-mail is very specific to him having those tickets...

Yes, they do allow it. I even tried another CC as well, but nope -- denied. Finally about 5 minutes ago they released the block, and I sent it to the seller's other paypal account.

Well, maybe one of your email addies got bounced by Paypal, who knows? At least the situation has been ameliorated now.

You know, I heard of the past problems and always chalked it up to the User doing something shady, but now I'm a firm believer in hating paypal. They SHOULD be shut down by the feds, or at the very least heavily fined and sanctioned. After reading through paypal sucks and the like, I see how their integration with Ebay is even worse.

No, I paid about 287 dollars, however, I'd pay more. If Auburn wins out(heck I might try to find some tonight...) I will be buying Orange Bowl tickets. Costs don't matter when it comes to Auburn football.
