fuzzy text - ViewSonic P95f+

Running 1280 x 1024 @ 100mhz, 32 bit
Saphire Radeon 8500LE, not overclocked (6.14.1.6292 ATI drivers)
Doesn't matter if I use the windows monitor driver or the latest from ViewSonic
WinXP Pro
Regular size windows fonts

I get some fuzzy text, especially near the middle of the screen. In addition, sometimes text in a browser can be very bad, appearing like low dpi raster text that is zoomed out too much. Monitor is very bright and super for games, but I'm not happy with the onscreen test.
Any ideas? Am I missing a setting or something? Monitor has a native resolution of 1600x1200 @ 85mhz.

i have the same problem. i lowerd the rate from 100 to 75 and it helped at the sacrifice of the hertz

Use a real resolution like 1280x960.

how does it look at 85 Hz or 75Hz? I used that monitor for awhile (usually 1024X768 @85 Hz) and the text clarity was razor sharp. I'm pretty sure it will look a whole lot better at 85 Hz, and since it's basically a Trinitron tube (Aperture Grille = Trinitron), it can look great at lower refresh rates (<100).

I have the exact same problem with my P95F+B. I have returned it twice now, with each replacement doing the same thing. (I happen to have a couple years experience in hardware/software testing so I'm about 99.9% sure it is nothing that I am doing or not doing.) Once the refresh goes over 75Hz, it gets blurry. Total crappy monitor. I don't know what the hell is going on at Viewsonic now, but it seems that lately they have a crew of blind monkeys building the monitors. I did figure out one way to fix the problem though, I ordered two Dell 1800FP LCDs today. 😀 I can't wait to get them so that I can retire this POS Viewsonic.

Oh, just to add, I did find that turning off the use of DCC info in the display properties then setting the max resolution and refresh yourself as well as setting the refresh to 90Hz definitely helped, but it still isn't clear.
