Let's face it, like anything else, sooner, or later hardware to a point becomes the standard, like SATA, I would imagine people saying this is now the standard of drives over PATA.
But don't you just love how comapnies put out all this Techno Fluff for the future, that doesn't seem to serve much of any purpose other then what seems like a sales pitch, granted some companies might have real genuine intentions, while others just throw us some hype.
Now don't get me wrong here, this is how technology does work and evolve, but there are companies that do seem to take advantage of this concept. Granted this does serve a purpose, but it's also an evolving one. So depending on the industry, and product, you could very well end up with something that's purpose just evolves into another something better, and you just end up constantly chasing this cycle of technology.
I truly WISH the companies giving us the hardware, that when it hits the market, it does what it's suppose to, and not be something that everyone says is for future benefit. Yes this is what technology is, evolution, and during it's phases this is what you get, but I think we could end up with better evolving end-products, and not so much chasing after it, if we only started demanding it as consumers.
I mean people buy things to use NOW! Get this, haven't you ever noticed that by the time this future arrives, it has been outdated by something else, pushing the same HYPE!
It's really a endless cycle of cutting edge pulling us in! But I've learned with experiece, you have to sit it out awhile to wait for things to settle before making your purchases, then hopefully your decision will have placed you with a product that has reached good maturity, basically doing what it claims, and not just for better future purposes.
I'm going to stake a claim in my new found name ------> "Futureware"
Let it be known from this day forth it was spoken by DasFox, that what most of us buy as hardware for our high-end boxes something I now call ---------> Futureware.
But I truly hope we end up with more of a "Todayware" instead, at least one day hopefully we will. 😉
