Futureshop = Best Buy

I've always wondered why there was no Best Buy in Canada, and now I know. Futureshop in Canada is basically the same type of shop as Best Buy, and is owned by Best Buy. It's a great mystery to myself that I've finally solved... heheh...

BestBuy bought Future Shop in 2002 and they are planning to transform all stores into Best Buys i believe. There are actually some brand new BB stores popping up around Toronto already. One's near Shereway.

actually Bestbuy already stated they have no intentions of converting Futureshop into BestBuys as FS has a strong market brandname

bestbuys also owns sam goodys yet they won't pricematch them! Example: The time when the klipsch PM 2.1's were $90 but soldout almost everywhere.

Yes, Best Buy is doing quite well. Unfortunately, they are not the same "low price" retailer that they once were back about 7-8 years ago. Now, many of their items are sold at retail price - unless, you get in on some great sale like the day after Thanksgiving.

if its sold out then they wouldn't pricematch anyways

I don't like futureshop. Their prices are usually higher than everywhere else, they aren't updated on their computer hardware items, they don't have big discounts like at Best Buy, and the one close to me has really bad customer service. They probably earn a lot of commission, so the salespeople really try to push products on you, which doesn't work at all on me, just gets me annoyed and makes me go somewhere else.

I don't really mind Futureshop at all, and it looks like they'll be competing against
Best Buy in several cities within a year or two.

The Furutreshop here in Barrie is really pissing me off... I've gotta 75 dollar giftcard, and all i want is a bloody Logitech MX700... but do they carry them??? Noooooooo They stock the stupid MX500...

Hey the one near me does that too. But then the MX700 will probably be overpriced just like everything there.
