why do you even run 3dmark if you have an opteron, just run your db server ands tay away from gaming

4096 is a good score for a single 7800GT. And BTW, 939pin Opterons are just "re-badged" A64s, so gaming/3D performance should be equal at any given speed with identical cores.

This is a perfect example of how NOT to show your superior knowledge on computers.

I've been considering trading cards with my kid. What do you guys think?

Definitely trade cards with him. Why keep a card that's faster in everything else but slower in a new synthetic benchmark when you can trade and get a higher 3dmark score?? ;)

-----------------

In all seriousness, we've officially entered the realm of the ridiculous, where it appears that $500+ of video hardware is necessary to make the next gen games look good. Which by the way, just might be coming (next gen games, that is).

If these trends continue (and there's no indication that they won't), then it looks like Xbox360 and PS3 sales will start to really pick up in 2007/2008, when that always-helpful first and second price cut occur and the consoles are going for $250-300.

I am clearly having some issues with this one. I aborted during the first cpu test because framerates were at 0. Anyone else having dual core issues?

I gotta get this too expensive piece of garbage figured out :disgust:

I didn't have any problems (see scores above) and I have the same mobo and an X2 4400+. BTW, I think that CPU test was normal. Find something to do while the test is running. If you sit there and watch it, it will drive you nuts.

Hey Jpark, is that C3D unlocked and/or OCed?
Would've thought that my OC'ed CH 3700+ would help some :p

Whatever happened to that screenshot that shows a village/city by the sea? I never saw that scene in any of the 3DMark tests.

Geforce 6800 P4 3.0Ghz

But whats funny is all my games play awesome, wonder how much ATi and nVidia pay these guys to tank your system, cause no game runs like this that I have played.

Very odd... my first pass at this was with my 146 Opty @ 2.9Ghz and my 7800Gt @ 500/1200- scored a 4121!! I was happy!!

Slap in the 170 opty running at only 2.75Ghz and back my 7800GT down to 490/1190 and I get a 4,508!! I thought I'd see the 146 with the higher clocked CPU/GPU speeds outrun the 170 at lower CPU/GPU speeds.

I didn't think the dual core would make that much differnce at a lower clock speed?

The CPU score is added into the final score. This is where dual core makes it's money. Compare the FPS in each test to see if your 146 is any slower than the 170.
