Future upgrade, slow buys

I'm currently thinking about upgrading CPU/Mobo/Mem in the near future (in 2012) and i'm gonna go Intel this time.

I'm looking at the i5 3550k and will OC it a bit to get some nice clocks. Nothing too high since it won't benefit me at all.

Anyways, I spotted a CoolerMaster 212+ EVO at a nice price and was wondering if buying it right now for a future upgrade would be wasted. I'm asking this because in the very small chance that I wait for Piledriver instead, would that HSF would be bricked...

I'm currently looking at DDR3 deals too...

You should answer the questions in this sticky so that we may better help you.

Also note that if you're asking for a build it should be within a month of you preparing to do so, prices can change quite a lot over just a few months.

I believe you mean the 3570K, and if you don't think you'd benefit at all from an overclock why bother getting it?

The 212+ EVO is a nice cooler, if it really is a good price might not hurt to grab it now and just ask CM to send you a compatible bracket for whatever board you do end up getting (provided they make one for that socket type).

The HSF and RAM as such small dollar items that any discounts probably aren't worth it. I wouldn't take the risk of getting incompatible kit just to save $20.
