Do yourself a favor and get 2x120GB Samsungs, that will be cheaper and better. (Especially in RAID 0).

Correct, but starting in 2005, all WD drives have moved over to the FDBs (fluid dynamic bearings), and are much, much quieter. I have a raptor, and it is quiet.

I have two raptors 74GB from 2005; they are far from loud, but they are no way as quiet as my 2 year old WD 160GB.

I also recommend against the 36gb Raptor. With the 74, you will be able to fit much more software (and don't forget how big WinXP is!) without even concerning yourself with space.

If you want quiet, why aren't you getting water-cooling?

The 74gb raptor is way too expensive in my opinion. Currently i run Windows xp and a couple programs on the primary partition which is only 30gb with 10gb free so i think ~35gb should do me fine.

I already have water cooling, i have the Reserator 1 system which i also going to cool the cpu im going to buy. The issue with the reserator is, though its dead silent its not one of the best coolers. If im going to hook it up to the gpu card as well, i worry that itll heat up too much.
The review of the raptor on silentpcreview was pretty convincing to me. I want a system with a fasttt boot up :)

Raptor hard drives are still too loud for my tastes, but whatever.

Ditch the raptor. Go with a Samsung drive.

As far as the PSU goes there isn't a better option than the S12. I'd go with the 500w. It has the PCI-e connector for future upgrades and the noise difference between it and the 430w is negligible. Check the SPCR review for more info on it.
