I do agree that this is a general problem. However, this is definitely not a problem for members here.

The reason why people didn't receive you well is because you tried to get them to visit your website under false pretenses. You implied you found this website and thought it was useful.

The bottom line is all stores like future shop, best buy, etc... The only thing they care about is how much money they make and a good business is shown by how much they can weasel out of. This includes price matching, rebates, returns and exchanges.

It's absolutely disgusting.

Umm... Yea?

Capitalism, baby. Gotta love it...

/Would've thought the guy with the $ for his avatar woulda figured that out...

There is nothing wrong with capitalism. There is something wrong with the way these companies operate. Just because they CAN use certain tactics to intentially take advantage of people doesn't make it right.

I assume this is in refference to the infamous McDonald's Coffee lawsuit. If you read the details of the lawsuit you'll see that it notes that McDonald's publicly stated that they served their coffee at 180 degrees Fahrenheit minimum, a good 40 degrees hotter than any of the competition. 180 degrees has been determined to be an unsafe temperature to serve beverages at, and I seem to recall that legally anything at that temperature is unfit for human consumption as it will destroy human flesh. The lawsuit forced McDonald's to serve coffee at a lower temperature.

The lawsuit was justified, at the very least for stopping McDonald's from serving coffee at unsafe temperatures. The awarded damages is what was questionable.

These stores are death traps for the uneducated. If you go in there expecting to get good service from the sales rep, you're asking to get raped.

My aunt couldn't wait couple of days till I finished my exams so she can buy a cheap computer for her daughter. Instead, she went and bought an overprized PC for 3 grand.. from none other then futureshop. I felt happy that she was ripped off, cause why ask me for advice when you don?t follow it? (well not happy.. but you know...)

Yeah I was expecting all of the "Reviews" to be based around the same experience but alas he just kept going back.

When you have as much customers as FS does, you're bound to find unhappy people and whiners. Include the winter weather and indoor hibernation of Canadians with nothing to do but sit at their computer all season, and you're going to have sites like this popping up.

What i suggest you do... learn your lesson, and move on with your life.

Oh wah wah wah. Go shop elsewhere if you're too dumb to realize that, yes, Future Shop is indeed a business, and they will possibly ask you to spend more money than you intended to spend at their store. While it's the salespeople's duty not to lie to you, it's also your duty to understand whatever the fsck you're getting yourself into.

These are the unofficial thoughts of a person who recieves a paycheque from Future Shop/Best Buy.

Edit: LOL. Your disclaimer needs work.
7. You agree that by viewing this site you are not doing so in a position of affiliation with future shop, best buy, BBCL or subsidiaries
:roll::roll: Yes, deny people affiliated with the company from reading consumer complaints. Way to help 'solve the problem'.
8. You agree to not hold the maintainer of this site liable for any actions consequential from your visit
That isn't going to come anywhere close to saving you if you publish libelous material.

I've always shopped at FS and never had any problems. They've always pricematched, accepted returns, etc.

I did shop at BB for the first time the other day. We were browsing the LCD monitors when I overheard a salesman claim that "newer LCD displays, like these, don't display any ghosting, or blurry images."

Welcome to retail.

There are days when I know I could spend an hour researching a way to save $20 on an item, or I could work for an hour and make $30-60, then buy an item that's convenient (in location or otherwise)

Well, all futureshop prices are very bad compared to any computer store. It's pretty much a sure thing. If they have one of their mega sales, it just means their price is closer to the normal you would get at any old computer store. I remember when I was looking to buy my AIW Radeon 9600 Pro, futureshop had it on sale for $400. At the nearest computer store I knew, and everywhere online, it was $300. It was saturday night, though, and the computer stores werent open, so I didn't really want to wait until monday morning. I decided to try to price match. First they told me they had to check with the manager, took about 10 minutes just for that. Then the manager comes out and tells me they have to call the store to check whether or not the other store has any in stock. I show them that their website which is linked to their inventory database clearly states that it's in stock. The guy wouldn't give, though, saying that they probably couldn't match that price because the retailer is selling below cost, even though it was pretty much the standard price at other stores.

Another thing is I don't like it when salesmen lie to me. I know enough about computer stuff to know exactly what the product can do, and what price it should roughly be at. I went there once to get a usb extension cable, and found that theirs was $24. A similar one at NCIX was $11. The sales guy came over to me, asking if I'm looking for a usb cable. I say yes, but also added, these are rather expensive. The person proceeded to tell me that it may be a bit more expensive than your typical cable because it supports USB2 and most other cables don't. At that point I shook my head and left.

EDIT: Woops, *shook*, not shoot my head... haha
