So then the correct phrase would be "Democrats learned from the republicans well"

Yes they did, thank god.

404 logic not found.

You say republicans are corrupt and that democrats learned it from them and then you say "thank god". So i guess you are now pro corruption, when its democrats anyways.

Dave is most certainly in favor of any corruption that supports his fanatical ideology. He constantly says things like "they learned it from your heroes the Republicans," or "It's about time you knew what it feels like," or "We learned it from your Republican masters."

that seems to be his standard defense for the Democrats who themselves are no better than the Republican scumbags they replaced... but that's all OK for Dave because his crew is now in charge, and that's all that ever really mattered.

it's really rather childish and completely destroys his credibility on any issue.

It's easy to criticise Dave, but he's right in certain respects. What Dems failed to realize, and are very much lacking, are the means to formulate, frame and distribute their message. It's an area where Repubs have excelled for decades- witness some of the truly outrageous things they've proposed and accomplished, and how they've even convinced people to vote against their own interests.

It's remarkable, really, and a reflection of just how effectively their strategists have exploited our cultural mythos...

Dave, you are blowing smoke up your rear again

This is not a Republican or Democratic headache. It is everybodies problem due to the support of politicians that believe that they do not have to have been accountable for the past 30-40 years.

Everyone wants the other person to suffer and not them.

Your attitude just encourages the continuation of doing nothing for fear of having to be responsible.

You toss blame at the Republicans, ignoring that the Dems have also had a chance to truly address the problem. They did not because it involved making tough choices.

Both sides have to address the problem. If one sides wants/decides to finger point, then the other will not attempt work work out a solution.

You seem to be good at fingerpointing and hot air, but fail inactually having a workable solution. You can always put up yourwords at the local or state government level if you actually can walk the walk.

How lame. Repubs have controlled the executive and the legislative branches for the last 4 years- when was the last time that Dems had that opportunity? When they passed Clinton's tax bill in 1993 or 1994, that's when...

And what was it that Repubs did with that opportunity? Smaller govt? Fiscal responsibility? Hardly. Rather, they've increased total indebtedness by ~$500B/yr, expanded the govt at the greatest rate since the Great Society, and sponsored a looting spree by those at the top unparalled since the Gilded Age...

I wouldn't know where to begin... you're all over the left side of the map. One minute your crying "conspiracy!!!" and predicting $5.00 gas, and the next minute you're hugging Chavez or stating that teachers should have to work for $2.13/hr...

in other words, you're mind is like a toilet... we never know what's going to float to the surface after it swirls around for a few seconds - but whatever it is, it's guaranteed to stink.

it certainly does, and I've never said otherwise. I despise the corruption on every side.

While you, on the other hand, seem perfectly willing to accept corruption within your own party as long as they maintain their position of power.

to me, that makes you hypocrites of the highest order.

The difference is when Democrats do something to harm the U.S. I certainly do say something about it.

When Republicans harm the U.S. you guys make apologies for your heroes.

you've been awfully silent on their attempts to harm the US.

uhh, no you don't. You consistently try to make excuses for their behavior. I believe your favorite line is some variation of "They learned it from watching the Republicans for twelve years." In other words, now that the shoe is on the other foot, you are unwilling to condemn them for the same types of behavior you scream bloody murder about when a Republican is involved.

I am willing to condemn either Party when corruption occurs. You are not.
When Republicans harm the U.S. you guys make apologies for your heroes.
I think we fundamentally disagree on what "harms the US," and therein lies the problem.

But that is neither here nor there because this discussion is not about what may/may not harm the US. This discussion is about corruption and politicians who are corrupt - and your seeming willingness to turn a blind eye to corruption when it's your own party who is involved.

Here's a plan...
let's cut off all medicare for the elderly
let's throw them all out of their government subsidized care centers
cancel the social security checks
eliminate AARP, and other agencies, who help the elderly.
Yep, let's do all that. It will probably save us trillions.

That all done, the crooked politicians will immediately find a way to spend whatever was saved.

This country needs an enema, starting at the top, in the Whitehouse!

Having seen the show, I wish David Walker-or some politician that is at least a pale imitation of him-would run for President. Someone who would deal with real issues, not flag burning amendments, anti-gay marriage laws, nonbinding referendums, etc.

I can agree with this sentence:

"The problem is the baby boomers. The 78 million people born between 1946 and 1964 start becoming eligible for Social Security benefits next year."

See what happens when we stop stressing individualism? Slash social security, slash medicare, slash it all...we'll have to do it sometime and the sooner the better. I sure as heck don't plan on depending on all of that crap. In fact, I've already started to save for retirement and plan to have my money working for me when I'm 50.

Nice rant, Blanco Nino.

So, who was that conservative icon who touted increased SS contributions from working people to fatten up their SS future with a "trust fund"? Reagan? and who has squandered that with fatcat taxcuts, huge deficits, pointless military expenses and wars of adventure? Reagan, and his disciples in the Bush Family? His acolytes in Congress? "Deficits don't matter" Cheney? "Anytime is a good time for a taxcut" DeLay?

Say it ain't so... You probably will, somehow... It's those bluehairs, living on their $800/mo SS check who are to blame, obviously... should have known better than to have placed their faith in Republicans, right? Probably true, but then denial and obfuscation can always work their magic...

Then I want a fvcking refund...WITH INTEREST! I've paid into the system at just about the max tate for over 30 years...ought to be a nice tidy sum, don'tcha think?

Barring that, I agree there needs to be some changes in the system, starting with removing the cap on how much you pay in. Then, perhaps "graduated benefits", and a prescription plan that might actually save money, instead of this pharmacutical company bonanza that bushie negotiated with his supporters in Big Drugs...

We are still waiting for you to post proof of this. Or have you gone silent for once?
