Where's the poll function? The "viewed" function?

I was looking forward to having those.

I'm with Viper. Where are polls?!

I remember Zuni saying on a forum this size the viewed function was a no no so they took it out. Dunno what happened to the polls though. =/

Hehehe... I made my own program to do the above, it was a neat hack: first made a text file with according letters to ons and offs, then a perl script to generate the C code to make a function for each letter, then included that file in a C++ build that had an array of function pointers... why did I do this ??? I dunno, but the fact that I can add any number of characters and such was neat :D Though I do need to put lower case somewhere :(

Of course, I promise not to use this program ever again :D

Where is the blasted instruction manual and what happened to the notion of backward compatibility? :| I couldn't even make my links work the old fashioned way in my Tolkien thread and the 'Help' blurb says nothing about all those new commands. :Q It appears to be the same old Help file, nothing new. Damn.

How is that supposed to be easier for someone who doesn't know the difference between http, https and ftp? I don't know why a little box keeps popping up and highlighting text, then clicking on B does not make it bold. Am I supposed to write it in the box instead (I suppose that's why there's space for someting to be written)?

Maybe it's because I am tired and about to go to bed but, right now, this aggravation is making me reconsider if I wish to continue trying to post here or if I should move to an easier site. This took all the fun out of posting and made it a chore. :(

Maybe if they include instructions...

Yes, your supposed to write in the white box that`l pop up....

Let`s say you want to write something in Bold....you just click on the "B" field, then type what you want to have as bold text in there, then click OK, and it`ll write the text with the correct code. :)

The new Link function is neater than it used to be, because you can now enter the URL (http://www.whatever.com/) in the first white box pooping up after clicking on "http", "https" or "ftp" (mail works this way now too), and the can enter an text that will, then, be the hyperlink.
Example:
A Link To The Anandtech Mainpage

Now if we could only get decent smilies, or, better, HTML support :), I would be happy with the forums. HTML support....*drool*

Ok, I think I got it figured out. I will manually insert =blabla after the first L between the brackets and I don't have to see the pop up box. :)

Looks like I'll stay here afterall.

These don't work with java and javascript turned off. :( I too need instructions. Although,

<< ...this aggravation is making me reconsider if I wish to continue trying to post... >>

,seems a bit harsh.

Might seem a bit harsh but I come to OT to have fun. The day I no longer have fun here, I'll do like the First Ones and move beyond the Rim. ;)

Yup, just insert =whatever after the first L, in the first bracket.

If you want to do links per hand (ie write the bracket´s yourself), try this:

(L=type what anone should see as text here)http://the URL belongs here/(/L)

example:
(L=Anand`s)http://www.anandtech.com/(/L)

Just use [ instead of ( and ] instead of )

Anand`s (my example using [ and ])

I love the new features - but these smilys are awful. Half of them look like they're mentally ill or something, for example: :D

what kind of crack-induced smile is that?! For the love of Jeebus - bring back the old smilys!!! These ones are scaring me...
