Good morning/aftrrnoon/evening good people of anandtech forums,

So, I have been following AMD related threads and am really interested in fury x. last month I bought a benq xl2430t (prices of gsync monitors are @$$ripping here)

Now the problem is benq only displays 120-144hz when connected to dvi-d port and fury x (acc to pics) doesn't have one. So, my question is are there any dvi-d adaptors to work with display ports/hdmi etc. That I can use to get high hz output on benq? Or should I forget about fury x and go for gtx 980ti? I want a clc version so hybrid or fury x are my top two contenders ..

You sure that doesn't support 144Hz over DP?

Edit - According to TH, DP supports 144Hz:

To run the XL2430T at 120 or 144Hz, you need to use DVI or DisplayPort...

Your assumption that it only displays that with DVI-D is wrong. Their site clearly states it will run at that refresh with DVI-D or display port.

Code:
Hor. Frequency (KHz)	VGA/HDMI:15~83
DVI-DL/DP: 30~140
Ver. Frequency (Hz)	VGA/HDMI: 24~120
DVI-DL/DP: 56~144

Benq has dvi-d, d-sub, hdmi n display port INput options. I saw many reviews before buying the monitor. All of them said hdmi only does 60hz. No one talked about DP as the monitor comes with free dvi-d cable so, probably everyone just plugged that in.

Thanks, 96Firebird and Stuka87 for pointing out frequencies supported by DP . I don't know why I just panicked lol

Yeah, just grab a DP cable and check that it works before pulling the trigger to be sure. Should be no problem whatsoever, I'm in a similar situation with monitors that only do max specs with DVI-DL or DP.

OPs question is still quite relevant for all Korean monitor owners looking at fury x.

That one is not quite as clear... You're talking about the panels that require DL DVI to get 1600p, correct?

For that, you need to be careful about the adapter or cable you choose. Read the reviews, since a LOT of people complain that the cables are not dual link and will fail to provide enough bandwidth to achieve 1600p.

What happens to those that are trying to run a dl-dvi kvm? Is an adapter even going to work? I wasn't planning on going the ati route anyway. Just wondering.

Aren't there passive hdmi 1.4 -> dual link dvi connectors as well? Or is hdmi only compatible with single link dvi?

I'm curious - my friend has a Qnix 2700 (1440P) monitor that only has DVI-D as an input. From reading around it seems like he won't be able to get Fury because there aren't adapters from DVI-D to HDMI or Displayport that scale above 1920x1080?

There are DP to DL-DVI adapters that will do 2560x1600 @ 60hz no problem. However, if you friend has his Qnix overclocked like many of us do, then its a different story and we may be out of luck.

Ah. I don't think he's actually overclocking the panel. I see a huge range of prices on those adapters anywhere from $30-120. Are there any you can recommend that work well?

Hardforum has a discussion going on sumilar to this and the general consensus seems to be that if you dont have a display with a DP port you are SOL for high rez/high hz gaming. That is unless some board partners adds DL-dvi to a non-reference design or if Fury ends up supporting HDMI 2.0.

This new member has a great answer for that from Toasty X (the master of display overclocking)

The amazon link within his post is probably the one to get

Benq 's site says my monitor can display 120hz output using DP.

You should be fine, the thread got derailed into a discussion of similar monitors without the DP.
