For the past 2 and a half weeks, the owners of the shop I work at have been on vacation in Hawaii. When they left, there were 8 of us to take care of things. Doesn't seem that hard, considering we had 3 people to do customer service work, one graphic designer, and a total of 4 people to do 100% of the production.
Week 1 was hectic, trying to tie up loose ends the owners had left with a lot of customers, but this is typical. Week 2 came around, and one of the guys up front left for the week, as he was getting married. Not too big of a deal, but it makes a lot more work for me. Come Tuesday of week 2, one of the production guys quits because he gets pissed off at the head production guy. Now we're down 2 people, and the whole work thing changes after that. We made it through last week with a few bruises, and figured this week would go much smoother once we had our other sales guy back.
This past Monday, our regular guy comes back, but the girl that works up front doesn't show up. Her mother eventually calls that morning, and let's us know her daughter will not be in. Deciding that I wasn't really the boss, and it might not be any of my business, I declined to ask why. One of the weird requests from her mother, however, was that we not give her paycheck to her husband if he comes in to get it. Ok, whatever, we do not get paid till Friday anyhow, surely she'll be back by then.
Tuesday rolls around, and her mother calls once again. She reiterates that her daughter's check is to not be given to her husband. My curiosity gets the best of me, and I ask her why the girl will not be in to work. The mother tells me she can't tell me at the moment, so I ask if it's safe to assume that she will not be in all week. The mother tells me she doesn't know. My thoughts are that she's gotten into a fight with her husband, and she's in no shape to come into work, if you know what I mean.
Today rolls around, and this time we get no call at all, from anyone. About an hour ago, I get a call from the guy who works up front, and he tells me that this girl's husband called him, asking him about getting her check. Now I'm not sure what the deal is with the girl and her mother, but we now know why he wanted her check......to bail her out. According to her husband, I guess there was something that she really wanted from a local Wal-Mart, and didn't quite have the money to pay for it. And from the looks of it, this isn't an isolated occastion.
After getting off the phone with the guy at work, I at first thought he was lying. So I checked our localer jailer site, which shows all offenders, and found her very easily. I find this extremely funny, as I remember her saying a couple of weeks ago, and I quote, "I hate a fvcking theif!", after she thought someone had stole some beer cheese she had brought to work to snack on.
Needless to say, I didn't like her before, and I really don't like her now. This will be great comedy for us at the shop, and I figured I'd share.
No cliffs, if you can't read, leave.
