Funny Thing - Seagate 750GB Hard Drive

I had a 750GB Seagate Hard Drive fail and it was a few weeks over its warranty period.

Seagate still replaced the drive for me. Which is awesome on them as I called and tried just for the fun of it. I had 2 WD Green Hard Drive's fail in the last year too, both just past the warranty date, and they did not replace them, which is fine. Still - It's been a rough year for Mechanical drives for me. (I hadn't had a hard drive fail on me since late 90's) Anyways, Kudos to Seagate for the help.

Anyways, the funny part. I got a new "Seagate Recertified" hard drive returned to me. It has worked fine for a week.

The box is what I found funny. Why would Seagate send me a hard drive in a Western Digital Box? Here is a pic of the box. There is no relationship there with them, is there?

Glad to see they recycle boxes. I'm sure WD gets a ton of Seagate boxes.

I'm more amazed that an RMA number plastered on 4 sides of the box with a magic marker didn't make it in.

They're just recycling the boxes that they get when people send them HDDs. I've seen something similar before, too.
