I didnt relise until a week ago that my eyesight has gotten really bad from what it used to be. I only found out by accident when i put on my dad's old glass's that i was missing alot of depth in objects looking at the carpet and clothing i could see really clearly and i never noticed it before.

Getting to the point for gaming lol, i decited last nite to put on the glass's during fallout 3 and wow lol. Its like turning on 16xAF i cant belive how much detail im missing in video games. When i take them off and on i can tell my vision looks more blurred or cloudy compared to with them on. I actually thought that was normal for fallout 3. It makes me want to cry "not really but you get the point lol" The only way i can explain it is if while looking at a long road you turn AF off in a game then turn it on you can see the detail in the road at the long distance with AF on. Thats whats its like with me when i look at objects in games with the glass's on i can see all the details in them all the rust, all the dings in the metal. Without tho i just see a peice of metal. I also seem to have more color with the glass's on. Blacks are blacker, and stuff like that

Pretty wierd huh ? lol. I wish there was some way to get my vision back i used to have perfect vision. My right eye is the worst if i close my left eye i cant read the monitor i have to move like 5-6 inchs closer. Do LCD's really ruin eye site ? Or did my eye's go bad from just getting older or maybe from using CRT's for like 6 years before i actually got my LCD. I went from 20/10 to 20/40 in 9 years. My screen i just measured is 28 inchs away from my head.

interesting stuff

I have very close to 20/20 vision but i tried some dude's glasses once and they made a difference. It's like I can see what I thought was just blurry better. Like the channel logo when watching TV. It was analog cable so the logo looked blurry and I thought it was supposed to, but with the glasses, it looked clearer. Needless to say, I don't feel quite as great about my eyes anymore... And tree branches from a distance looked darker and more defined. strange

How far away should you really sit from a 19" monitor mine does 1680x1050 ? I just measured what mine was right now and it was 33-35inchs away from me. Im reading that it should be 20-25inchs. If thats true then i have the thing sitting to far. Moving my monitor to 28 inchs tho looks wierd like its to close.

Yea i always thought i had perfect vision i alwys bragged about it too lol. I never had problems reading or anything but when i put those glass's on i was like wtf.. Its wierd how i see more color depth too. Things are sharper more clear, and the color is more defined.

I don't think it really has to do with how far you sit from the monitor. That is, unless you sit so close that your eye muscles are constantly trying to focus when it is not possible. It happens naturally with age, your eyes get contoured so light doesn't focus correctly when it hits your rods and cones.
