So my friend comes over, who mostly plays games on his PS2. So he comes over and I show him FEAR. I ran it on all high/med setting w/ x2aa, x4af, at 10x7. During a scene in the starting movie, there is some very nice lighting shining off the floor and person so I point it out and say
"Amazing graphics aren't they?"
So he says "Yeah, wow, those are sweet."
So then, I say, "Wish your PS2 could do that?"
Then he says "Yeah, those graphics are great. Its just amazing how it actually shows each tile on the floor instead of having it all be one flat surface."
He wasn't being sarcastic...
Wow, it's just funny how the simplest thing like tiles shock consol users, yet for a PC if the game doesn't have normal everyday textures, then the game just sucks or was made earlier than 2000. Only after a bit did he see the lighting. Even after seeing it though, the thing he was most amazed by through the whole game (the insane shaders, lighting, and firefights) was still the tiles.
