Funny how technology changes

The first computer I ever built was an Athlon Thunderbird. I became a religious, diehard AMD fan - nothing could ever change me!

Now I have an Intel i7 and mostly just use my phone really 😛

Ehh, do you have anything that would ever stress an i7? If not, why not give it to me? I can bring it to it's knees for ya. 😀

I went from scavenging for spare parts for my old dusty rig as a child to buying and building high end rigs as a teen to just buying a laptop as an adult. All the while my actual time spent on the computer went down and down till now where I spend way more time with my phone and tablet.

Technology in general changed very little, what you CHOOSE to use is what you are referring to.

If you were to ask me, phones SUCK and it's my "last resort" over PC or even Laptop.

But def nice to have on the road/traveling or on the shitter.

Technology in general changed very little, what? So cell phones, computers, GPS systems have just been around forever? what you CHOOSE to use is what you are referring to.

If you were to ask me, phones SUCK and it's my "last resort" over PC or even Laptop. my phone has a clearer screen, does more easier and is faster than a good number of PC's and especially laptops

But def nice to have on the road/traveling or on the shitter.you sound like a real winner

LOL

Technology has changed a lot. It wasn't that long ago that the idea of using a phone as a mobile computing device simply didn't exist, and a little longer ago we didn't carry cellphones, let alone smartphones.

Of course, you kids who are teenagers or in your early 20s now don't have the perspective to see that.

But it doesn't fit in your pocket or last all day unplugged. 😛
But your phone doesn't run my favorite games, and raytracing will most certainly thrash any phone's battery whilst running at a snail's pace. (and yes, that last part applies to me).

For the average consumer the PC doesn't rule because its not convenient. 90% of the time I use my PC to surf the web and watch videos. The only advantage a PC has is a keyboard for posting in forums and even that can be mitigated by a BT keyboard for a tablet/phone.

Now at work there's no replacement for my PC.

I'm definitely not the average consumer in regards to processing needs and such, so a high powered PC is an invaluable tool to have. I admit though, having a smartphone is handy when my computer is pegged out on a rendering job. Tools for the right jobs I suppose would be an accurate term.

Just use laptops way more than a few years ago. Still don't have a tablet. I've never owned an Apple product. I've been building PCs for awhile. Always budget. I miss the late 90's & early 00's TBH.

I've got my phone configured to do pretty much everything I need it to, BUT it's hardly a substitute for a proper x86 system.

Technology is changing at a rapid pace, it's so mainsteam it's annoying, but that's only good news for anyone in IT if you like $$$$$$. Make it rain.

I use my phone for phone calls and text messaging, also pictures and rarely web browsing. Everythign else I do is on my desktops, be it at work or at home.

Everyone knows you need a mouse+kb to use a computer. It's much more fluid and precise, and you're going to be far more efficient and effective in executing those commands, effectively. Touch screen is basically like playing doom 2 with only a keyboard. Actually, no, in fact it's worse.

Phones and tablets should be used on the train, the bus, the plane, or the toilet.

Funny how technology changes

Especially as portrayed in movies.
2001, with video phones and tv tube screened computers.
Oblivion, with glass top touch screens.
I doubt within 25 years that one will need to touch anything,
or interact physically with any device.
Everything will depend on where attention is focused.
Most likely by detecting eye movement, facial expression, and body temperature.
Imagine playing a game where eye focus detection determines your concentration and game interaction.
