That's right. You show me an airfield and I'll show you twenty clowns circle-jerking the empty airplane spawn point, bouncing around like the Juggy Girls from the Man Show. As soon as a plane spawns they're climbing all over it like dogs on a leg, and the one bastard who gets inside is invariably in the midst of a seizure as he takes another poor schmuck in the rear gunner position on a twenty second joyride ending with a pillar of flame and a pile of bodies next to the smouldering remains of a friendly APC. Every time!

I believe NFS4 linked to a hilarious Gamespy article about Battlefield 1942. I can't get to Gamespy at work, but it had something to do with the guy sitting on the machine gun attached to the armored drop boat with all his ememies inside and opening up when the boat hit the shore, right?

First, you'd get a plane, then you'd parachute down to point number 1 (use the '9' key to open your parachute). Often you'd be unopposed because the Americans are all in the airport waiting for a plane like it's the last chopper out of Saigon.

Don't expect vehicle camping (especially the planes) to get any better. Tribes 2 is still bad. You've got idiots who sit on the vehicle pad screaming "repair our vehicle station" while the rest of the base is raped by the other team. Before they changed it so you warped into vehicles after you ordered them, it was not uncommon to have people steal your vehicle before you could jump in.

Anymore, I don't even bother getting in bombers, as fun as that is. When all the shrikes (single pilot craft) are taken, people move on to the bombers if they want to go to the enemy base. It gets pretty damn old when you hop in a bomber expecting to make at least one bomb run over the base, and then your pilot drives the frikken thing into the ground.

BF1942 will probably be as bad, or worse.

Even still, it does look fun and I'd buy it if I had some guarantee it'd work with my system. The demo doesn't worked (patched or otherwise) for me
