Using the site for a few minutes, the random image seems not all that randomy, getting lots of repeats!

Nope, and it never will. I do however keep a directory of funny .gifs too and may some day make a place for them.

Due to the nature of true entropy (if you will), you will see repeats. However, the larger the image base grows, the fewer repeats you will see.

There is however a function in place to prevent the same image from displaying twice consecutively. (that I may or may not have broken in my last update to the code >< )

You can easily turn all of those off, there is a filter drop down menu in the upper right. Simply select "no lolcats" and you wont see anymore of them.

That is still one of the funniest things I've ever seen/read. A poster here on ATOT once told me, after I had posted a link to it a long time ago, that he knew the guy who wrote that paper.

Look at the writing of the person grading the paper. It was written by a young person. It's fake. i.e. simple phrases like "page is to" big, when a real teacher knows the difference between "to" and "too". The writing in the red ink looks like it was written by a 12 year old child, certainly not an educated adult.
