Funky gateway problem

I have a dlink di704p at home here that I'm using as my gateway. We have 4 computers on the network and none of them seem to have any problems, but my computer can access the internet right after I turn it on(and about an hour followin that) and than it can't resolve any names. Than I need to release and renew the DHCP and it works for about an hour again, and than it needs to be released and renwed again. Any one have any ideas why this is?
Thanks

The nic I'm using is onboard and didn't really want to have to find one to put in(was hoping someone would know😛. But I have tried switching ports with no luck. Thanks for the info so far.

Try pinging something outside your ISP's net to make sure there are no routing problems. Sometimes you can ping the DNS, but not get any further than that. Could be that the DNS server doesn't have the requested name cached, and can't route a request somewhere else to fulfill it. I had an issue somewhat like this a couple months back.

its just my computer on the network the othercomputers don't have a problem. Was going to see if it was the nic, but the one i put in doesn't seem to work right😛(tells me a cables unplugged when its not)

Thats just the onboard one saying there is a cable unplugged more than likely or else the right driver is not installed for the new nic.

I tried two different sets of drivers for the new nic and it keeps telling me the cables unplugged, so I'm going to try and find another one, will post back when I get it, thanks again for the info so far

Are you sure that 1) the cable is good, and 2) the cable is fully seated in the ports at both ends?

I regret to inform you, on the best possible authority, that ignoring the above can waste tremendous amounts of time and energy. 😉

Most of the time you will need to disable your onboard hardware on the BIOS when replacing it with PCI (nics, soundcards, modem) or AGP (video) cards.
