If you're on the opposite side of the road where the ambulance doesn't need to be? I thought it was only the law to get out of the way if you were in the way. I could be wrong, my driver's ed was admittedly pretty crappy.
The law here is that you must (on a 2 or more lane road with lanes traveling in the same direction) pull over to the nearest curb and stop.

You lost me a little there. If I'm on a 4 lane road driving North for example, and an ambulance is coming southbound with no traffic or impedences on their side of the road, does the law say I have to pull over? I know if you're going the same direction as the ambulance you should pull over, I also know if it's a 2 lane road, both lanes going opposite directions, you have to pull over. It's just on 4+ lane roads that I'm uncertain.

in ontario you can not impede emergency vehicles.

if it is a 4 lane with a median you are ok but if its just a 4 lane pull over.

In Arkansas you have to pull over and stop until the emergency vehicle has passed regardless of how many lanes there are just as you have to stop for a school bus when its' red lights are flashing.

OK. I guess I should probably look that up to find out what the law actually is here. I just reasoned it out that if I know I'm not in their way then there's no reason to stop, but to be fair not everybody is capable of making that judgement correctly.....
