Windows 3.11 - Try to get it integrated into different networks. Will be good practice if you end up working with some insurance company that refuses to upgrade.

Play with winderz 1.0 first. It's so primative! Yeah as the other person suggested, try to get 3.11 networked with other systems running 98 or NT! That should be fun!

What version of DOS do you plan to install for these Windows x.xx platforms?

Try to match your DOS version with the correct ERA version of windows x.xx

Personally i had alot of fun with Windows 3.0 and 3.11, with DOS 5.0 -> 6.22

My first laptop had DOS 5.0... First desktop? hmmm, don't remember the DOS version it was that long ago...

Rofl, memories... DOS 5.0 was only (2) 1.44 floppy disks.
DOS 6.22 was huge! it was (3) 1.44 floppy disks... lol

I also have the original MS-OFFICE, it came in 2 versions:
Standard = (20) 1.7 floppy disks (special format)
Professional = (24) 1.7 floppy disks (special format)

3.11 you can have hours of fun networking. The other versions are fun to optimize the OS settings. If you just want a good laugh try the older versions.

now, why would you want to torture yourself? i think windows 1.0 came out in the year i was born(i'm only 17). the first os i ever saw was windows 3.1, and my dad said, and i quote, " don't screw this new computer up, it's state of the art and expensive." great thing to tell to a 9 year old. i poured water all over it. oops, sorry daddy. he didn't let me touch a computer again until win95 came out and then he bought me my own, so i haven't had much experience with anything besides gui's(nice ones like windows and gnome). the thought of using windows 1.0 is scary. will it even run on anything modern? ;)
