Monolith's LithTech Jupiter EX used in "F.E.A.R. First Encounter Assault Recon" and "Condemned: Criminal Origins" has the option to render at 1/4th the display resolution. This is basically just 800x600 run with the same option (rendered at 400x300).

LOL the "Pixel Doubling" option. Only way to play FEAR with any of the shadows enabled on a couple old notebooks I used to have :D

Can't play FEAR without shadows! It's just wrong.

Heck now i know why my 7850 went out,my power outlet in my wall was not grounded and a electrical current was going thruout my tower thru my vga cord and effecting my entire tower as just yesterday both my motherboard and my memory crapped out as well, hope my core i5 2500 is safe as now i have to wait two weeks to replace that board and memory now .:awe:

At least the zotac gtx650 i got today from ups works fine in my dell xps400 pentium 4 3ghz, 768mb backup machine which is now a retro gamer for games like ut99,ut2004,bf2 and some q3a.

I remember when 1024x768 was a very high resolution which you could do with 2 Voodoo2s in SLI. LOL!

depending on your display 1024x768 still looks OK,

people still play console games at similar res on huge screens anyway.

Call it insanity or my absolute love for BF3 but 400x300 low with no aa and af on my 17'' 4;3 monitor averages in the 40's and hits as high as the mid 70s on close quarter maps and Operation metro and hell i went 3 to 1 ratio on nearly each round.

400x300 is pretty pitiful i know but when a man wants to game,he is gonna game no matter what and hopefully anyone found this info useful as well as amusing .

I think people around here lose sight of the fact that games can still be fun without running max res and all on ULTRA. It's fun to do some showcasing, but when it comes right down to it, video settings & number of pixels are trumped by gameplay. As many point out, we used to play Doom, Quake and Duke3d and had tons of fun in an era where 400x300 was considered high res.

1024x768 looks fine on my 17'' 4:3 and comparable to 1680x1050 on my 24'' u2412m which is native 1920x1200 but if i got the resources then of course i will run native or one resolution or 2 below native if performance is there still.

Before i got my u2412,i was running a 6770 at one point and 1024x768 on my 17'' was my resolution of choice for that card just for pure performance sake.
