:awe: And they say it can't be done.

My 7850 recently crapped out and well it needs to be rma'd and i did decide i wanted to purchase a spare budget gaming gpu so ordered a zotac gtx650 non ti 1gb and while i wait for it to arrive,hd2000 on my i5 2500 with 1gb allocated has actually surprised me in BF3 sorta.

Call it insanity or my absolute love for BF3 but 400x300 low with no aa and af on my 17'' 4;3 monitor averages in the 40's and hits as high as the mid 70s on close quarter maps and Operation metro and hell i went 3 to 1 ratio on nearly each round.

400x300 is pretty pitiful i know but when a man wants to game,he is gonna game no matter what and hopefully anyone found this info useful as well as amusing .

Funny that BF3 offfers such a resolution, I never played a game that even offered such a low res, most could be played at 640x480 as lowest res,

Perhaps for future tablet or handheld systems rocking insanely low resolutions is why BF3 supports 400x300 or maybe just so nearly anyone with lets say a 9500gt which dominates a hd2000 like no ones business can play assuming they can handle low resolution and detail to gain very playable fps.

400x300 ROFL...

The Red dot scope box has more pixils on a 1080 i bet...

The thing is your only dealing with a pathetic 120,000 pixils total.
Im pretty sure the frostbyte3 engine was intended to run on a system with greater then 300,000 pixils..

400x300 looked OK on 14" CRT SVGA screens back in 94 but, it's probably quite bad on any LCD!

the HD 2000 is really weak for gaming, even to play TF2 at 720p I had to reduce most settings to the minimum and framerate wasn't great.

Wow, I didn't even know that was a valid screen res. Hell, back when I played Half-Life rendered in software because I didn't have a video card, the lowest I could go was 512x384.

A well made game engine doesn't care what resolution you are using.

Thx for sharing his. My Llano rig plays nicely at 720 res. with medium to high settings depending on the game.
Another 5 years and lots of gamers might ditch dedicated gpus. Lets see how things evolve.

Looks perfectly playable tbh

Biggest issue is actually attempting distance shots by scope, everything is way to blurry but up close and personally i dominated just as good as someone with dual titans.:awe:

Best part that made it incredibly fun despite the handicap was that i was away out of town for the last month and getting back into the game i should have been sucking but surprisingly in some of my rounds i played better and harder then i ever have so i was shocked beyond belief.

Looking like that at 40-70FPS? If I had to, I'd rock it! :whiste:

As it is when I travel I used Intel HD 3000 and now HD 4000 on my notebook for gaming at 1366x768. I just turn down the IQ until it isn't super laggy, and it works for me.

Hope to run 1280x1024 high without msaa when my gtx650 arrives tomorrow .

Sucks that i can not use my u2412m monitor as any resolution below 1680x1050 gives black bars and looks pretty awful and the techpowerup review shows the gtx650 lacking especially at 1680x1050 and honestly the game is gonna look better at native 1280x1024 on my 17'' 4:3 then a resolution like 1440x900 being the next 16:10 resolution my u2412m supports below 1680x1050 .

Here is to hoping MSI covers the warranty on my 7850,its been taken apart to be cleaned and with use one of the fan bearings has been going out so it may be considered abused by MSI so a gtx760 may be in my future so i could get back to using my u2412m.

HD2000 for me did drop sometimes as low as 22-25 fps if some explosion was nearby making it unplayable in some causes but mostly i was sitting at 40-70 yeah.

It is borderline playable and enjoyable but honestly its more funny to share my experience in my time of desperation with the forum then to even contemplate even suggesting everyone to pull out their spare 4:3 monitors, put away their 1080p monitors and rock out with a 4:3 resolution used before the time of the dinosaurs assuming your down river without a paddle or a spare gpu and only have intel as a backup .:awe:

Monolith's LithTech Jupiter EX used in "F.E.A.R. First Encounter Assault Recon" and "Condemned: Criminal Origins" has the option to render at 1/4th the display resolution. This is basically just 800x600 run with the same option (rendered at 400x300).
