Fun with credit card apps

When you get the credit card apps in the mail with the "return postage guaranteed" on the return envelope, does the credit card company actually have to pay $0.39 if you send it in?

Lately I've been using these envelopes to send in random junk mail that I receive. For example, I'll send the pile of Capital One info (not filled out of course) back in a Chase return envelope and vise versa, or if I only get one app that day I might send them the weekly sale flyer for the local miniblind shop or carpet steamcleaner.

Is this actually costing the credit card companies money? If I really stuff the envelope full and maybe add some rocks or cornflakes, will they have to pay for oversized postage? I hope so, because it sure makes me feel good.

There was a blog of a guy who sent a whole old tire back to a junk mail company. He boxed up the tire and taped the return envelope to the box. Apparently they received it, because he never got it back.

oh man i'd love to read that

taping the envelope onto a box will not work. USPS will not deliver it and will toss it as junk. people tried to mail a brick that way.

don't those credit card apps have your name and address already typed in at the bottom part of the application? The ones I receive do...

You better check that before you stuff one of those in a return envelope....

Doh. I didn't notice it was a secure link. Why can't Fusetalk just handle that all for you? I live up to my alias on some days. I could blame the fact that it is Monday. But I'll just claim stupidity on this one.

Correct link.

You could just opt out. But then you might not get some neat promotional offers. That is the reason why I still want the credit card offers in the mail.
