Shows how much traction matters. Power to weight on the Hellcat is clearly better, as shown by the higher MPH it ran, but the AWD Tesla just killed it off the line and was able to hold on just barely at the end.

That's the trouble with 2wd and street tires and lots of power. Put some slicks or even drag radials on that Cat and it's not close.

All that AWD rocket ship tech and it's a half second faster to 60 than a v8 rwd Dodge.
Not that the T is short of awesome attributes or anything, but still. Half a second.

Everything seems to dep like a rock anymore unless it's crazy highline stuff.
Even the big euro names are cheap after a very few years. To buy at least..

Wonder why the Hellcat only has 275-width tires in the back. With 707hp, certainly it would benefit from some wider tires out back?

The Corvette Z06 has 335-width rear tires, and the Viper has 355-width rear tires. Both are less powerful than the Hellcat.

Give the Hellcat some fender flares, stick some 335mm wide rear tires on it, and I bet the acceleration times would improve significantly.

Didn't we do this already? With a new Hellcat owner botching the launch, and then a rematch?

You know, as a huge Tesla fan...they made an excellent point about the awesomeness of American muscle. Vibration, engine noise, slippery handling when you gun it...really gets your blood pumping when they show that stuff revving up on the Hellcat

I almost posted this last night as I watched it... seems like a video of 2 of my favorite things lol. They even had the color right on both cars. I'd still have to take the Hellcat though. The P85D is an awesome car, but not twice the price awesome.

Honestly I wasn't a fan of the Hellcat's aesthetics until I saw it in this video in that color. The part with the music comparison at the end was hilarious too :D

Yea, that's the deal-killer although right now dealers are killing customers who want a Hellcat Challenger or Charger with insane mark-up's. A local Dodge dealer has a hellcat on the lot, price?, $97K, apparently the company that supplies the supercharger can only produce a limited amount so there are way more orders than cars available. Give it a year or so and things will settle down, even if I had the $$ I could not live with myself letting a dealer corn-hole me like that.

I saw that coming to begin with really.

Hellcats are marketing.

Torque on electric motors is constant.

The price of decent handling and ride. That motor is waaaay past the point where a regular street radial tire that isn't some cheater MT stuff is just silly. If I didn't see mid 10's from a 700hp car that size with good tires I'd be pissed. And it's pretty damn funny as when I was a kid, anything under 14 flat was smokin fast and nowhere near stock.. lol

a couple years ago chevy ran a camaro around the nurburgring matching or slightly beating the lap time set in the 1967 german grand prix. a new minivan beats magnum pi's ferrari, doesn't break down like an 80's ferrari, hauls stuff and burns less gas.

Yeah, tech and modern manufacturing have really taken a lot of this hobby away from the capable (or the rich) and given it to the masses. I'm happy for the individuals but it's pretty depressing on a grand scale.

The 2015 Z06 doesn't even come near the mid 10's, despite it's nearly 1,000 pound weight advantage and better tires.

Why fault the Hellcat?

the interwebs says it's high 10's with stock tires and the auto, I'd expect it to drop half a second with slicks too. Some tweaks to get it a hair over 700hp on slicks was high 9's, again per a pretty legit looking article on the web, that jives with it being lighter if that's the case. Street tires suck for serious drag, even big ones. Cool stuff in both cases.

If the Hellcat had AWD or even bigger rear tires it would kill the Tesla.

Can't you shave close to a second off the Hellcat 1/4 time with drags? I think I read that somewhere....could be wrong.

Also, I really want to make a burnout snowball.

Yea good point. The Tesla is awesome! It's amazing that they're able to get the car that much faster.

To be fair I guess the dodge was built to go fast mainly, the Tesla that probably wasn't the #1 goal.
