Fun EQ2

Assassin on the evil side is fun, monk on the good side is also fun. Obviously depends on what you like to do and there is a wide range of choices.

I havent tried too many classes yet but I will go on ahead and vouch for Necromancer and Shadowknight as both being fun and powerful classes.

Wardens are a fun and versatile class to play as well. Can spec them into a healing/melee ball of magical power.

/agree on Necromancers. My main is an 80 Necromancer which I solo'd most of my way. Extremely powerful and fun to play.

Sounds like Eq1...

Necromancers in EQ2 are different. IMO they aren't as tough as they were in eq1. They do have really nice pets in eq2 but the spells are toned down for the necro in eq2 compared and here is why. If you want the good pets you go necro but if you want the high dps dots then you go warlock. They split the necro from eq1 into necro and warlock.

Wait WHAT?!?!

They finally fixed the SK in EQ2? Man, I really wanted to like EQ2, but when it came out unless you were a templar, guardian, or some sort of bard, no one wanted you in their group.

Paladin and SK tanking ability was a complete joke, and using one for the MT was a stupid. They weren't really any good for off tanking. A good monk or high dodging thief class made for a better off tank. As for extra damage, there was better classes. I know. I was an SK originally when it came out and got to 44, but then quit a month later or so. It was just too frustrating sitting around for HOURS because of the forced grouping crap and not being one of the "in" classes.

The problem is that EQ2 tried to break the mold on the "holy trinity" combination when it was released, but it failed miserably. Maybe they fixed it by now, but I don't like throwing any more money to a product that came out failed liked that.

Hopefully my new guild is steering me in the right direction. My Fiance is wanting to try EQ2 with me so we can have another game to play together. This will be her 2nd RPG/MMO as Wow was her first. She prefer's being a DPS caster and would prefer the ability to Solo very well. She did not mind being the healer in groups in WOW and played a Druid, but she prefered being Caster DPS and being able to solo if she couldnt find groups. I was told to have her make a Fury. Was this a good suggestion? The simplest/easiest class would be prefered.

wow i guess anandtechers dont play eq2. well they did steer me in the right direction and I suggest that anyone trying to get people to play use the recruit a friend as the xp bonus and things they give you once they subscribe is insane. Well worth it.

I have been playing it off and on since release and since last summer it has been the only MMORPG I am active in. It just has the right mix for my play style now in that there are things I can jump on and do pretty quickly as well as stuff I can do that require a bit of time. I was lucky enough to finally find a great guild with no raiding pressure yet very helpful. I pretty much burned out on raiding in EQ so it is nice to be able to play and have fun without the time and scheduling commitments raiding requires.

I played a Brigand to level 80, then quit. I played EQ for 4.5 years and I really just wanted to see the world.

I only played a Brigand and can't give you any advice for your girlfriends character except that if she wants an easy class she shouldn't choose to play a tank nor a rogue (ie. Brigand, assassin), and probably not a healer either. That should narrow the field for you by half, at least, I would think.

so far she really likes the fury. the guild is helping her spec it to be a healer so she will be useful in raids. I really want to know about this expansion that everyone keeps talking about. Everyone keeps making mention of it in chats but nobody can give me any links to what it will be or anything. Anyone here have any leads to the new expansion being developed?

people are still speculating in game chat channels about the expansion but I have been unable to find any real hard facts about what it will be and when it should be coming out as of yet.
