Fulton County, GA Criminal Investigation of Trump

Fenixgoon

Lifer

This is In addition to the GA Secretary of State's own investigation. I wonder if other states will follow suit with respect to the election interference (MI,PA)

Of course, "Teflon Don" seems to be sticking...err, not sticking?

About time! I mean honestly I don't understand the delays. What about the criminal tax evasion case in NY? Why are we impeaching him when federal statutes regarding insurrection were broken? About time prosecutors go after this guy hard

As I mentioned in the impeachment thread, we don't have a confirmed AG yet and the AUSA's aren't even in place. Federal prosecution will not happen until the decision makers are in office.

As to the NY state investigation, not sure exactly where it is at, but as of December when last I read an article about it, they were in the process of issuing subpoenas for more records. Tax fraud investigations can be complicated and may involve reviewing 10's of thousands of pages of financial docs.

Hope they can prosecute this, but I think Trump is going to argue that he wasn't asking for anything illegal. He said many times during the call that the election was stolen. He'll say that when he said "find me x votes because I won" that he meant find me votes that I believe were mine anyway. It's the kind of thing that can deadlock a jury.

Also, I feel it's worth emphasizing that the Constitution is explicit that impeachment is separate from criminal prosecution. ("...but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.") This *should* be a matter of "both/and" rather than "either/or".

Exactly. As nice as impeachment is for preventing running for office again, nothing says it better than being in prison.

Here ya go. As of Jan. 29th, Trump is to turn over documents pertaining to falsely reporting property values.

Took long enough.

I would love it if he spent the rest of his miserable life in a shitty little county jail, awaiting a trial that never comes.
