Fullscreen problem with Windows Vista

Whenever I run a fullscreen application in windows vista, it'll automatically minimize the program and then switch to my desktop. When I try to restore the program, it opens it for a second, then closes again. I have this problem specifically with Halo for PC, but it happens with other games too. I want to think it might possibly have to do with my video card because today, I just switched from an X300 to a 7600GS, but I know I experienced the problem at least once or twice on my X300 also.

Any idea why? Could it be Windows Aero?
