Man! I purchased this back when I first had my Powerbook before Dashboard came out and thought it was the greatest application ever. People ask what Konfabulator does? The right question is what CAN'T it do. There are widgets for practically everything. And if there isn't...I hear it's pretty easy to make your own. I may have to download this and use it on my powerbook instead of Dashboards. I like having the widgets running in the background much better than having to press F12 to get them up. I'm definitely getting it for my PC when I get home. Thanks OP!

Played with it a few months ago when maximumPC raved about it and enjoyed it 'till it wanted money . Now that it's free, I'm all over it!

Thanks for the tip!

ummm.... not meaning to threadcr@p... but...

I skimmed the first 50 widgets and didn't see anything usefull -- maybe the traffic cams, if you're in of those cities, but nothing else caught my eye :(

can someone name the best 5?

But thanks for thinking of us OP.... ;)

It's not java.. and Stardock took their idea from this company. It doesn't have to be java to be a resource hog.

Ahh...well, I certainly would agree that java apps aren't the only resource hoggers.....just usually the most consistent hoggers... :)

I did not know that Stardock had stolen their idea.....

ctrl+alt+del

It varies on which widgets your running. The widgets I'm running hardly use any cpu and take from 3mb - 11mb of memory each.

Great program. Like an earlier poster, I was all over this program until it quit and started asking me for money after a month.

Konfabulator is much like Samurize, although I don't know which is less taxing on the resources. Now with Konfabulator being free, expect the widgets to be coming out the ass in the next few months.
